Even further back, none of this would have happened if people hadn't elected a POS as president.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

At risk of strong obloquy from you and much of the board, I have reposted that pesky amendment removing all emphasis previously added, except on one word. Once that word is not applicable to any assembly, the protections under the Constition similarly do not apply. That is not to say I agree that Mr. Pretti or Ms. Good deserved one or many bullets being fired into their bodies. I do not. However, if one does not assemble in the manner designated by the Constitution and takes such actions that can be reasonably deemed as not peaceable, those left behind cannot rest on the laurels of that ancient parchment nor use the remaining words in that clause as a cudgel. I'd say it is my 2 cents, but without pennies in circulation, I will have to offer my nickel.Originally posted by falafel View Post
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.“Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.” Aroldis Chapman

And here's the Minnesota statute for CCW:
I do not see any stipulation that CCW holders must voluntarily tell officers they are carrying. It may be best practice when tensions are high, but from my reading I don't see anything requiring them to do so.
And like BG said, just exactly when did Pretti have time to let them know he was carrying? Was it after him getting pepper sprayed or getting pistol whipped while on the ground? He was not carrying ID. He for sure violated best practices.Subd. 1b.Display of permit; penalty.
(a) The holder of a permit to carry must have the permit card and a driver's license, state identification card, or other government-issued photo identification in immediate possession at all times

He was not carrying ID.
And even if that's true, the penalty is a petty misdemeanor. Not deadly force after the perceived threat has been neutralized."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Under what premise and for what purposes?Originally posted by Shaka View Post
That's not reasonable. The feds have every right to be in Minnesota.
"Federal law gives immigration agents the authority to arrest and detain people believed to have violated immigration law. But everyone — including immigrants suspected of being in the U.S. illegally — is protected against unreasonable searches and seizures under the Constitution's Fourth Amendment."
"For example, officers can question someone in a public place, but more extensive interactions — such as a brief detention that's not a formal arrest — require a "reasonable suspicion" that someone has committed a crime or is in the U.S. illegally, the Supreme Court has ruled.
Reasonable suspicion "has to be more than a guess or a presumption," said Michele Goodwin, a Georgetown University law professor. To meet this standard, a reasonable person would need to suspect that a crime was being committed, had been committed or would be committed."
Under the current circumstances (premise and purposes), the feds do not have the right to be there. And the especially do not have the right to violate citizens constitutional rights.

You're right, they should all go hang out in an office building in DC. Immigration issues will sort themselves out.Originally posted by tooblue View Post

Do your own research.
For now, let the record state that the argument has moved from your insistence that the law requires him to verbally tell officers he is carrying a concealed gun, to now whether or not he committed a petty misdemeanor for not having a permit on his person."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd.
