As for Vance, I was a fan when I read his book upon its release, but he clearly struck a Faustian bargain with Trump that propelled him to the Senate. There are many fine quotes from J.D. about his running mate, including "reprensible," "idiot", possibly "America's Hitler," "cynical asshole," "cultural heroin", and much more. But he put all that aside for Trump's endorsement and now he's likely his V.P. Truly a man of integrity,, and that doesn't begin to address his love of conspiracy theories and lousy policy views.
    Ambivalent Right as well.

I too survey as Ambivalent Right

"On issues ranging from the size of the federal government to views about business, gender and race, Ambivalent Right hold many views that are largely consistent with core conservative values. Yet they also hold more moderate stances on several social issues like abortion and same-sex marriage, and they differ from some other segments of the GOP coalition in their more internationalist view of foreign policy and less restrictive stance on immigration. Ambivalent Right are distinct from other Republican-oriented groups in their views of Donald Trump. While large majorities of each of the other Republican-oriented groups say they feel warmly toward Trump, Ambivalent Right are much less likely to say this."

This is pretty spot on for me.

          • I am curious to see of this gives Dems a great new strategy on attacking Trump. The "he's a dictator and will end democracy" approach wasn't working before and post assisination attempt is beyond the pale. Now they can focus on Vance and that he is an election denier and put the focus on the crazier and more unpopular components of Trump, which he also subscribes to. They can attack Trump by proxy. Biden still needs to go but I think this may be a big opportunity for the Dems.

You still think Biden has a chance? Bless your heart.

No. Let me be clear, for this to work Biden would need to be off the ticket. Probably Kamala as well.

                • I am warming up to the idea of Vance being the next VP... especially when Karl Rove disapproves.

From what I understand he is very blue collar... so blue collar that the teamsters may even endorse the Trump/Vance ticket.

Aren't you a libertarian? Now you are an economic populist who loves central planning?

Uh, Ted has never advocated actual libertarian ideas on here. Gun rights, but I can't think of any others.

Yeah, a hail mary is their only chance. Definitely won't happen, but we can dream.

Yes. Thank you. Nellie Bowles provides a great perspective on this in her recent book "Morning After The Revolution: Dispatches from the Wrong Side of History." The Floyd riots and CHOP/CHAZ were the turning point for her and resulted in her ostracism from the NYT and mainstream left.

Whoops. At least my ambivalence comes shining through. In truth, Ambivalent right, right of center.

You definitely campaign for them on here. Whether you vote or not, maybe that is a separate thing.
