That's a silly response. Everyone knows that Trump is fighting the deep state for us. The deep state put him in charge!Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostHmmm.... I think this is an interesting take from a couple of press people who worked for Trump about how the trial didn't help him as much as some might think and why.
https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/03/opini...fin/index.html
"Don’t get us wrong: Trump’s conviction has hardened his support among those who were already with him. We fear it will even further radicalize the most extreme elements of his base.
But the notion that the main message he needs to win over swing voters in battleground states is that he is, for the umpteenth time, a “victim” of something, or that the system is “rigged” against him feels like not only a stretch, but a real miscalculation. Voters are simply not that gullible."

Independents and undecided aren't, is what they're saying, which I think makes sense. Trump is about raising money as much as anything, and his grievance message is all about milking more from his fans. But I think I agree with these former staffers of his that it isn't gaining him additional votes.Originally posted by Pelado View Post

Yeah, Trump would need to take one too... But he isn't part of the Biden drug family so I doubt they will find anything on him.Originally posted by BlueK View Post

I'd be surprised if someone of Trump's age and with his demanding schedule wasn't on some controlled substances - and that's not a judgment. Just common sense. He is also not a bastion of self-control. You weirdly have a puppy-dog like trust of everything coming from camp Trump. It's almost like you venerate him. I double dare you to take a social media break for a week. You probably have a twitter feed that's nearly identical to the one apurposefulwife had. Remember her? I believe she got excod.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

If you ever looked at the actions of the Trump White House and wondered, ‘Are they on drugs?’ — the answer was, in some cases, yes. Absolutely, yes.But for many who served in the Trump White House, the investigation highlighted an open secret. According to interviews with four former senior administration officials and others with knowledge of the matter, the stimulant was routinely given to staffers who needed an energy boost after a late night, or just a pick-me-up to handle another day at a uniquely stressful job. As one of the former officials tells Rolling Stone, the White House at that time was “awash in speed.”https://www.rollingstone.com/politic...ax-1234979503/ (paywall)One former White House Medical Unit staffer told Pentagon investigators that the unit “work[ed] in the gray… helping anybody who needs help to get this mission done.” Another said, “Is it being done appropriately or legally all the time? No. But are they going to get to that end result that the bosses want? Yeah.”Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I think that'd be the smart move. Trump is slipping too but the perception among his is that he isn't and that is really all that matters.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post
At the least Kamala needs to be replaced. She is she biggest non-entity at VP since Dan Quayle.

she has to be replaced at a minimum. I know its macabre to say, but Biden really does look like he's got 2 years left.Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

A sobering article by the Atlantic. Same thing many of us have been saying.
But here is a broader thematic reality for the president: Bad vibes have been the persistent feature of his campaign. No matter the obstacles Trump creates for himself, Biden remains a comprehensively weak incumbent, weighed down by the same liabilities that burdened him from the start, beginning with the largest, and completely unfixable, one: At 81, he is much too old to run for president. Durable supermajorities of voters still do not want any part of Biden at this age. His bullheaded insistence on doing something no one has ever done (Ronald Reagan, then the oldest president in American history, was 77 when he retired), along with the unwillingness or inability of Democrats to stop him, remains an existentially risky, potentially disastrous, proposition. The stakes remain appallingly high. If Biden loses in November, that’s all anyone will remember him for."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? I've been disappointed with Roberts recently but he has shown the ability to be moderate in the past.
