I think we are being naive when we say Trumpism only works with Trump.

The party has been radically changed and he’s grooming a handful of people to take his place. The successful one to rise will be able to capture the MAGAs with their own specific style and as we’ve seen the corporate Repubs will fall in line.

JD Vance could be that guy, Kristi Noem possibly, Elise Stefanik, Matt Gaetz could be if he wins governorship in FL, lots of people that mirror his political style that could be far more dangerous than he.

That's just more bullshit to get his troops riled up. He will never do that, just like he never built a Mexico-financed wall. They have done actual scientific studies that show that of all the non-bovine things in the known universe, Trump's mouth is the closest to resembling a bull's anus. To me this kind of anti-democracy stuff the Republicans are fond of is crappy. We will throw out your ballot because of an error in the way you wrote the date on the outside envelope even if it was received in time. Has nothing to do with the eligibility of the voter and the rule exists only for the purpose of eliminating votes that they calculate may be more likely favorable to the other party but undoubtedly killing some of their own in the process. The Supreme Court needs to stop this kind of garbage.

It seems silly that a handwritten date is required when a postmark would provide a better time stamp.

I don't think these shenanigans are limited to the GOP, though. The one that drives me nuts is the Democrats opposition to Voter ID laws. As an electoral strategy I get it. But it certainly makes the hand-wringing about the GOP being anti-democracy come across as less than sincere.

Yes, our democracy has been changed for the worst due to Trump, and lots will use his ideas in the future. I don't see any of the people you mention rising up and dominating national politics like Trump.
