  • I'm just wondering why you are doubting he'll do what he says if we know for a fact dozens to hundreds of soldiers support a trump coup. You only need to find a few we crazies for the cabinet

Heck imagine if pence was on board like the future trump vp will be.

I think Jan 6th was a combination of right-wing nutballs and well-meaning dopes who got caught up in the day and made a mistake. The law has caught up with most of them and they are paying for their stupidity. The country as a whole was never in danger, the transfer of power was never in danger, and it doesn't qualify as a true insurrection. An actual insurrection would have been carefully planned out and executed with deadly results and much more far-reaching implications.
So when they were a room away from lawmakers calling to kill them , no one was ever in danger ? Come on

But you'd vote for him in general? Despite him saying he wants to be a dictator?

I haven't decided who I will vote for in the general.

The lawmakers weren't in much, if any danger. If it got to that point the Capitol Police would have started emptying lead into them and it would have ended even more quickly.

I'm not excusing the morons who did it just the same way I'm not excusing the folks on the other side who heap hyperbole upon the incident for political gain and make it more than it was.

        • organized groups in contact with the admin itself did try to make it an insurrection. But thankfully yes the police stopped them

It was a planned insurrection with help from the admin though

I don't think Desantis is the boogyman like many here. I just don't think he has run a good campaign and as a result isn't electable.

Well neither are Christie or Haley. I'll just choose to believe you see the truth about DeSantis

I agree, I think Haley would crush Biden. But the GOP is more interested in power than governance.

I've never fired a high-powered rifle, so if I bought one and got a shot off at Trump from 3/4 of mile, Trump would never be in any real danger, because I wouldn't know what the hell I was doing. So, when it's all over am I guilty of attempted assassination or horseplay?

I agree with teh first part fo this but I think it was a failed insurrection...but one that never would have succeeded even if it had gone well. Trump doesn't have 50% of Americans support. He has maybe 20% that are adamant supporters and the rest are just loyal GOP voters that wouldn't support a coup or insurrection. Then you have hte swing voters that like some of what he did policy-wise and then some voters that don't like Biden so they vote Trump.

But, I have learned, to not underestimate Trump and his base after they won in 2016. I still think Trump loses again in 2024 despite where the polls are at today, but I'm also frustrated that the Democrats aren't doing what they need to do to solidify Trump losing. Biden is a very weak and vulnerable candidate and they knew that a year or more ago. An open primary would have been the best solution but the Democrats again aren't listening to reason and are instead wheeling out their weekend-at-Bernies candidate. It'll be a nail-biter again but Biden will win.

FTR, I'm voting in the GOP primary adn will likely vote for Haley. I'll then vote for Biden over Trump, but it won't matter since I live in Texas and Trump will easily win Texas...again.

Agree to all. And same except Utah, not Texas.

DeSantis is a goon and a terrible candidate. Haley is our best hope. Ron needs to bow out.

                            • I'm in the same boat as Moli and Bo. I'm not thrilled with Biden's vulnerability, but with who ran against him in 2020, I don't trust that the Dems could have replaced him with anyone any better. Newsom might have worked.

I'll vote for Haley. I really like her and think she would do a good job as president, but Trump is going to win short of him having a great fall. Nothing seems to topple him no matter how scandalous though.

                              • I will joint the Moli, Bo, and Beefy team, although I may just write in Mickey Mouse in the general. I live in Utah afterall, so any general statewide election is pre-determined.
