It's more of a lament than an insult. You're one of the smart ones, and if even you don't know better, what hope is there?

Ha. Claiming you pity me is an even bigger insult.

If you think I am downplaying the danger of a trump presidency by making that point, or that I am acting as a trump apologist in any way, then you aren't anywhere near as smart as you pretend to be.

And the other half will challenge these dumb ideas in court. What is your point?

Do you seriously think that an executive order only admitting immigrants "who like our religion" would withstand a legal challenge?

Do you not remember Trump and other MAGA folks getting their asses kicked over and over again in court with their bogus claims of election fraud?

I still have faith in the guardrails of our democracy. The SC--the 6 to 3 conservative SC--will not sign off on crowning Trump as King.

              • Jack Smith just filed a writ of cert preemptively for Trump's m to dismiss alleging he has blanket 'presidential immunity' for the events of January 6. We'll find out what SCOTUS thinks of Trump for sure. Clarence Thomas probably ought to recuse himself on this one...

You're willing to harness yourself to precedent? Fifty years ago Richard Nixon resigned when faced with the shame of what he had done. That can no longer be cited as precedent, because the concept of political shame no longer exists. We're entering Thunder Dome. Anything that was once true can no longer be counted on.

                      • I'm hopeful the guardrails will hold, but I'm less optimistic than I was in early 2017. Trump is already talking about tasking the CIA and Justice Department with going after his enemies, and we can expect him to staff those and other agencies/departments with his obedient servants whose primary allegiance will be to il Duce, not the Constitution, unlike the large number of reasonable and seasoned veterans he started with in '17, nearly all of whom quit in frustration during the ensuing four years.

That all goes without saying. Trump: the sequel will be a disaster. But do you think all of the fair-minded judges in America will capitulate? Certainly didn't happen after the 2020 election. The judiciary is probably our only hope.

I can't believe we are having this conversation. Stupid democrats. How hard is it to run a decent candidate?

                          • stupid demorats?

again, what makes you think trump wouldnt do something violent?

I'd bet based on news stories, dozens if not hundreds of soliders would kill the entire congress and SC for trump if asked.

This response has nothing to do with the point I raised.
