  • Some of y'all have really let Desantis take up a lot of real-estate in your heads. You imagine him as the worst possible version he can be, then trick yourself into thinking that version exists, and then get super mad at the things he's done in your imagination.

I don't like Desantis and I think his culture war approach is stupid. But how can he be responsible for something he hasnt commented on, let alone sign into law. He very well may be that stupid but none of you doom fetishists know.

No offence, Trump critics were pounded with remarks like "he lives rent free in your head," when the problem was people pretended they problems weren't as dire as they were.

He may well be completely free from the stench of this bill. But how likely is that? His whole governorship is so antagonistic to the press and 'mainstream media'. This bill didn't arise in a vacuum.

Excellent point, Frank. How many times was "Trump Derangement Syndrome" thrown out to disparage those that were concerned about what Trump was doing and seemingly intended to do (and he actually did much of it)? Desantiis is showing us all exactly how he plans to govern. It's not even a secret. We've been down this road before, and it's not a good road.
          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Remember when you (and a few others) mocked me in 2016 for thinking Trump had a shot at winning the presidency? Good times.

              Yes, I remember that.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is a thing and it existed, actually probably still exists, on this board. It doesn't cover those who had reasonable issues with Trump or were respectful about their disagreements. It covers those who regularly used hyperbole, caustic language, and virtue signaling to go after every....single....thing...Trump did or said whether it was good or bad. They also went after anyone who had the gall to vote for Trump. You see the same thing on the other side with many who go after Mitt.

Everyone knows I voted for Trump. My main reason was possible SCOTUS nominations. I don't apologize for it. My reasoning panned out and I got what I wanted out of it. Now I'm ready to be done with Trump. With that said, my life was significantly better under Trump than it is under Biden.

                • For the record, I don't like DeSantis and would never vote for him but there is definitely some DeSantis derangement on this board as USUC describes. No doubt about it.

I didn't mock you, I agreed and was called chicken little. I also thought he'd be capable of a coup attempt.

As for DeSantos, he is trying to meld state and corporate power with Disney. He wants influence over content they produce. That's fascism. Mock away but he is trying to grab power all over the place.

What he did to the immigrants and asylum seekers was dreadful and inhumane.

This is the same guy who sent law enforcement after a state health official who wouldn't fudge COVID numbers

Jeff, in this day and age don't underestimate DeSantos awfulness. There is no DeSantos derangement. But there is some denial. There are a handful of republicans who are awful and amoral people and a bunch or cowards.
