As the dude states, they showed David in class the year before and they intend to continue showing it in the future. The board member said he wouldn't provide the specific reasons the principal was fired but throughout the article you can infer some of the reasons: The principal refused to send out the letter to parents notifying what would be shown in class after being asked to do so, and the teacher told the kids to not tell their parents.

Your characterization of the situation described in the article makes you seem drunk on progressive outrage porn.
Reading that interview makes it abundantly clear that even if showing the statue wasn’t the main reason the principal got fired, it certainly started the chain of events that led to it. So it is still ridiculous.

Also, that board member is just dripping with disdain for libruls.

The problem with this take is that you have to explain why the statue had been shown at this school in the past without similar consequences. It sounds more like the principal had a growing list of issues and one of them was the failure to inform parents about the statue being shown.

you do not need to inform parents to show a picture of michelangelo's david to sixth graders. the teacher should be celebrated for rejecting that dipshittery (especially at an institution sniffing it's own "liberal education no lib safe spaces" farts).

It think it might have been Vice (which still does some good reporting, particularly internationally) that had an article about how liberal people filed to have The Bible removed from school library shelves. Of course that's dumb, but the point is to point out how ridiculous the book ban crowd is, because per their metrics, it should removed.

I hate using the word conservative, because it's neither that nor liberal, but the kings of cancel culture and snowflakery are right wingers. Trying to outlaw certain ideas or theories on college campuses is an affront to free disclose and dialogue. But as long as Alex Jones doesn't banned, they don't really care. That would awful and he should just be able to spout offensive things contrary to platform rules without recourse.

I think an even worse Republican party will emerge from this. Trump and DeSantis are the only viable candidates at the time, and they seem to be in a race to see who can out-extreme the other. That's the trajectory of the current Republican party, and I don't see that correcting itself anytime soon.

Or perhaps this is the culmination of a dying populist moment in American politics. Populism can't deliver anything of substance. Inflation is high, debt is climbing, and the economy is in decline. Neither of these bozos want to make economic policy a centerpiece. It leaves room for someone who does to rise. But maybe you are right and this will be another losing round for the GOP because they can't shake trumpism. But the party will eventually ditch it because nobody like a loser for long. I hope that happens sooner or later because we need a sane economic policy in this country.

Populism = cowardice. There is no leadership, just sniffing the winds and pandering to the masses. I hope it dies off soon.

Did you watch the clip? Romney never said CEOs should not be questioned. I agree with him that it is somewhat ironic to have a bunch of lifetime politicians who have no concept of running a business grill a CEO of one of America's biggest companies on its business practices.

Yeah - it's definitely not an endorsement of all CEOs:

I recognize at the outset there's some irony to a non-coffee-drinking Mormon conservative defending a Democrat candidate for President and perhaps one of the most liberal companies in America. That being said, I also think it's somewhat rich that you're being grilled by people who have never had the opportunity to create a single job. And yet they believe that they know better how to do so and what's best for the American worker and what's best for the American economy, what's best for growth.

I also think it's rich to not recognize the extraordinary conflict of interest we have which is our Democrat colleagues overwhelmingly get their campaign funds from unions and therefore would like to find every possible way to extend unions even if an enterprise feels that it's in their best interest to pursue a different course. Now I know that there are a number of reasons why you might wish not to have union organization in your various enterprises.

At the same time, I agree with Senator Cassidy and with your own comments, Mr. Shultz, which is that people have a legal right to form a union. There are some employers that are not good employers and a union is necessary to protect the rights of those individuals. And that if any enterprise, including yours, has broken the law, that it should be held accountable for having done so.

At the same time, there are legitimate reasons why an enterprise might choose not to become unionized. I first would note that within your company there are probably some stores that are union some that are non-union. Do the non-union store employees get paid less than the union store employees?

I’m confused. No where in that video did anyone say a CEO shouldn’t be questioned. Did you link the wrong tweet?
