Congrats. Number 2 son is flying to Vegas with me Sunday night. We are picking up a car and on the way back going to stop and play Coyote Springs. I have heard so much about it and never played it. I thought I had played most of the courses in Henderson, but haven't heard of Black Mountain. Is it fairly new?

Last week I played twice and took a different boy with me both times. They primarily liked driving the cart and getting snacks from the cute girls, but they also enjoyed playing some with me.

My 13YO, in his self-selected golf attire, and the old man at Kapalua Plantation Course. It is by far the most scenic course I've ever played. I wish I had my camera out on the 1st and 3rd holes, to take photos of the pod of whales that were jumping in the distance.

I will be playing Rhodes Ranch against a colleague at work who hasn't stopped talking trash since Monmday when we decided to play. Again winner gets their T-time paid for the next time. I really want to win. Wish me luck! Hope my putter is hot again.

When I play golf I try and follow most of the rules. The exceptions being if I unexpectedly lose a ball, I don't usually drive back to rehit from my original spot, I take match play 'gimmes' from my partners, and if I absolutely blow up on a hole, and I often play out of order to speed up play (I like to play fast). I don't improve my lies (Tick, donut, and junkie have all witnessed me try and hit from some horrific lies), but unfortunately I do find hazards more often than I would like. Am I the only one who never knew yellow stakes existed? I honestly only knew about red and white stakes. Even if I've hit into a yellow staked hazard, I doubt I've ever under the 2 stroke "Tiger", as 90% of the time I play from point of entry, unless I feel like going Tin Cup and rehitting the same shot a second time.

My second question, do you remove your hat before shaking hands with your playing partners at the end of a round? For me: Yes, if I didn't know them before the round. No, if I'm playing with friends, or donuthole.

You are a better golfer than you let on.

I didn't know about the yellow stakes until about 6 months ago. I have seen them, but I didn't know the difference between the yellow and red stakes. Now that I have been through a few months of competitive team play, I am extremely familiar.

If I believe I may have hit a ball OB, I always drop a provisional and hit now. I carry a ball in my pocket marked "Prov" just for that situation. Much faster and keeps within the rules. If I find that my first ball isn't OB, then I just pick up the provisional.

I always remove my hat to shake hands. The only time I don't shake hands is when I am playing DT...because we golf about 50 rounds a year together.

I have an appointment setup with Callaway Golf down at thier headquarters in Carlsbad, Ca for May 17th. I am going to go through the entire factory fitting, and going to get a custom set put together.

I play too much golf to be using something that isn't built specifically for me. My current set is extended 1", but standard loft and lie. From other "quick" fitting sessions, it has been recommended that I go 2 to 3 degrees upright. I am really looking forward to this.

Currently I hit the following:

Callway Razr Fit Driver (Last years model)
Callaway Diablo 3W (2 years old)
Taylormade 3H and 4H Rescue (3 years old)
Nike Victory Red Cavity Back irons (5 years old)
Titliest Vokey SW and LW (2 years old)
Ping Scottsdale Shea Putter (New this year)

I may replace everything in the bag but the putter.

The wife is already on notice that this isn't going to be a very cheap day.

90% of the golf I play is with the Men's Club, and it's rules, rules, rules. Playing by the rules is second nature to me, and when I play with friends outside of Men's Club, it's weird to see them get all loosy goosy with improved lies, not putting out, and picking up. If they go OB, they just drop another ball, and sometimes don't even bother counting the penalty factor. When someone tells me at church that they shot an 86 last week, I hate having to guess at the validity of the score.

Our club is a hats on handshake club. Probably has to do with the familiarity of each other. Most of the guys play 5 times a week, and are real comfortable with each other.

Tick... your Callaway custom(er) fitting session sounds like fun. Spending money on the "right" set from the beginning will save you money in the long run. I went through three sets of irons last year, thinking that each was my final set ever... My question is why do I play with Callaway woods, Ping irons, Taylormade putter with a Ping grip, wear a Titleist hat, wear Nike shoes, and play with the least scuffed ball in my bag regardless of denomination?

The part that I am looking forward to the most is the portfolio that I will be leaving with afterwards. Loft/lie for all clubs. Shaft recommendations for all clubs. I get a pretty good deal if I purchase through them, but I don't have to do that.

I love thier drivers and woods. I have coveted a set of Callaway irons since I first swung the X-14's.

Wow. That will be fun. My dad was a Callaway guy but now is all about Taylor Made. He got the RBZ bug.

I knew about yellow stakes, only because my club has a hole that has yellow stakes.

41-48 on Pacific Dunes today. I'm hitting the ball as well as I have in a long time. I needed to make a few putts, I was leaving everything super short.
