Saturday I am playing 36 holes at the course that I had my worst meltdown ever. It is where I shot a 129 :shudder:... Wish me luck! That course really gets the best of me. http://www.sycamorecanyongc.com/index.html

I am not sure why this course causes me so much grief...In its hay day, it was really nice. They even hosted the first round of the PGA Tour Q school there in 1993. Then it went downhill. It has new owner and management and supposedly getting back to its old glory..

75 at Hobble Creek while home on vacation. My older brother has still never beat me; but he plays a lot more than me and he's improving. I've gotta keep it sharp.

75 and you gotta keep sharp? Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope you die.

HFNW... Hobble Creek is a par 71, that score's not as good as you think.

It's also at a high altitude and the golf ball floats for an extra 10 to 15 yards over what I'm used to here in Hades on the Potomac where the humidity knocks the ball down to the ground.

But I still shot 77 at Congressional last month . . . don't hate me; it was a low humidity day.

Just for record, my post was meant to be funny, as 4 over is still a very good score. Hobble Creek is one of my all time sentimental courses, especially the par 3 14th hole, which has specific midnight memories dating from 1984. I scored well that night if I remember.

No offense taken at all; I thought yours and HFN's posts were funny.

After my family, the thing I missed the most on my mission was Hobble Creek Golf Course. I spent my summers there, and even after my mission, I worked up there washing golf carts just to spend time there. It is indeed a special place, although I've never scored there like you have. It's not b/c of lack of trying. It's still on my birthday list, and my wife knows it.

I faired much better this time than last. First 18 was 50+50=100. I was playing well on the front 9 until hole # 9. I drove the ball in the lake, then dropped. The area I had to drop is hardpan and about a 200 yd shot to clear the lake and land by the green. I chunked it strait in the lake. Dropped again, and hit what I thought was a great shot only to have it drop in the lake about 3 feet from the edge. 3rd time a charm and hit it just off the green. Carded an 11 for a front 50. Second nine was not spectacular and ended with a 50. i couldnt read the greens and left alot of putts well short or really long. Many 3 putts.

Second 18 we started off the back. I shot a 42 on the back 9 and was feeling good. On the front, I fell apart. 1 bad shot after another. It was now about 102 degrees out and really humid. I think I hit a wall and just couldnt focus or hit a good shot. Finally came to the 9th hole (now the finishing hole) and I purposely aimed left of the fairway to stay out of the lake. Drive was low and started right down the middle of the fairway. Then, as if I hit an invisable tree, the ball started right and barely missed the lake. It actually landed in the drop zone I was in the first time I played it earlier. As I drove up to the ball, some jackass had picked it up, looked at it and was about to hit it. When I approached, he looked at me and said.."oh, are you hitting a bridgestone?" and he dropped it and drove off. anyways, I chunked it into the lake off the hardpan, dropped and landed the next shot off the green. Ended the back with a 52 for a total of 94, which I'll take on this course any day.

I would be all over that but my wifey capped my clubs at $300

I found a set that I am going to look at in Nashville on Friday. Ping i5's / white dot / played twice w/ a OGIO stand bag used twice and he threw in a Calloway driver for $300. I think that is a good deal as long as they are in good shape and I like the feel.

i5s or G5s? Not to dissuade you, but I think that the i5s are the more advanced set, as opposed to the G-line, which is aimed at higher handicappers (like me). The G5s would probably be easier to hit/more forgiving/higher launch. Also, do you think you need the white dot? I can't remember what sort of adjustment that is. But you could always get fitted later and send your clubs to Ping for an adjustment for like $20. But beggars can't be choosers. Sounds like a good deal.

So, you've played 3.25 rounds? Did you just quit after the 4th hole or are you playing more than 18 each time out?

Sadly, you've played only 14 holes less than I have.
