Random Thoughts.

- It's interesting how Jason Dufner is most most picked of the names above. He's got a game that is suited for tight fairways and good putting. I think if he's got his same game from the last 2 months, he's got the pole position.

- I like how Husky is always trying to differentiate himself from his peers. (Charles Howell III?) Is he even in the field for sure? $10 says he doesn't make the cut.

- DH ought to like this story. So with my recent Ping purchase Golf Smith screwed up on their paperwork and claimed I owed them $400. I went in and showed them my paper work and got it settled. This month I get another statement showing that I still owed the $400. I went in and corrected it again, and they said I could have ANY dozen balls I wanted for their error. I picked Pro V1x. I guess I wanted to stick it to them for the most I could, but I gotta say, it felt like Christmas morning when I opened the box, and marked the balls with my customary mark. (I just use a yellow sharpie and highlight the brand name. Doesn't look hideous, and it's certainly identifiable as one of my balls.) Anyway - I play the Pro V1x yesterday, but I couldn't tell any perceptible difference, (than perhaps it was shorter off the tee) than the Callaway Tour HX Diablo's I've been playing. Anyway, I've got a free dozen balls that will last a while, as I haven't actually lost a ball in about 3 or 4 rounds now.

- Regarding my game - it's pretty obvious to me, that my putting is what is keeping me out of the 70's consistently. I think my driving is about a 5 handicap status. My approach shots are about a 7/8 handicap status. Chipping around the green is about a 8 status, but my putting is like a 20 handicapper. Maybe something is wrong neurologically. My left arm has been numb for a couple of weeks. It seems as though I have no touch or feel around the hole. Even from 3 feet, it's a hope and a prayer if it goes in. Even as I type this - my left arm is aching and numb.

Just to set the record straight, I never claimed Pro V1s were the be all end all of golf balls (personally, I think that spot is held by the Taylormade Penta). My gripe with your golf ball of choice was when you were playing Top Flite Gamers and claiming they were as soft and responsive as a Pro V1.

Shot a very frustrating 97 this morning. I scored 6 on two of the par 3s, without a ball going in the water or other hazard. I had three triples, and two missed par putts that changed the round for me. Should have been in the low 90s.

Shot a 51 at hobble this morning on what could have been a 43 if not for terrible, terrible putting (as an example, I three putted on 2 after sticking my approach a foot and half from the pin). HC is in gorgeous shape.

3 Putted from 18 inches - Suddenly I feel better about myself. At the end of the day, it's all about putting.

Yeah - Hobble is in the best shape I've ever seen it - or just about any other golf course actually. And to think its a muni.
