So take this for what its worth, something that I've found helpful.

Long story short, I am rereading the best golf book I've ever found. It is fantastic for anyone who struggles with their short game. I have to re-read the pitching/chipping sections every year, because I inevitably revert back to old habits. Pelz, is literally a rocket-scientist - he use to work for NASA. This book might be a little too engineery for some, but I find him very easy to read and love the scientific approach he takes toward the game. Personally, the 4 or 5 pages on where the ball should be placed in the stance for each type of shot is worth the price alone (interestingly, I've heard teaching pros tell students exactly the opposite of what Pelz' data shows).

I should get that. I imagine it is in some form on DVD.

Anyone got a great suggestion for Driver and irons, especially getting more distance.

I might have to try reading that book. Lately what I've been doing is envisioning how I would like my club head to strike the ball before I swing. I get this little 2 second movie running through my head and it seems to be working. I think it also works on your full shots if you think about how you want your swing to look before you take it back.

I need to work on that more. I struggle with proprioception. What I think I'm doing and what I'm really doing can be two completely different things. My biggest issue is alignment- when I'm over the ball what looks to be my target line is usually 15 degrees right of what it should be. Thus when I'm trying online I feel like I'm going to yank my shots left.

My hope is this year to develop a more repeatable swing. I've played 10 or 12 rounds so far. The 3 in Vegas were an abomination (I had 10 penalty strokes...on the back nine, with Tick and DT), I started to figure things out in Hawaii, then since I've been back home I've been striking the ball well.

My wife is heading off the Woman's Conference on Wednesday so I will get at least 3 rounds in this week. We'll see if my swing will hold up through 54 holes or not. I will report all my scores, at least to Tick, instead of just sending him taunting texts when the weather is nice or the rare occasions I do play well.

I have played 2 rounds with you now. I don't buy any of these scores you have been sending me recently.

Utah last year, I played so-so but couldn't putt (shot 87ish, if I remember correctly). If I recall correctly, none of us putted well that day. I'm not a big fan of the greens of whatever course that was- it seemed every cup was on a sidehill or swale.

Vegas this year, yeah I have no excuse. It looked, and felt, like I had never seen a golf course longer than Trafalga in my life. I admitted to playing nearly as bad, the next two days as well. I'm waiting to see how this week goes, before showing the dumb little youtube drill that seems to be working...so far.

Fridays round was the best I've shot in a looooong time. However, much like Doh'Nuts round it had more to do with a hot putter than anything else. In other words, I don't blame you, brother.

I will trying to hit this quirky little green Friday afternoon.

            • While looking at Abbottabad (Osama's residence) on Google Maps, I noticed he lived within walking distance (drive and a nine iron) of the Abbottabad Golf Club. I can't imagine Pakistan has a lot of golf venues.

I just wanted to give byu71 a heads up on where to play next. Perhaps we'll have our next CUF golf outing there. I have dibs on Osama's cart; he won't be needing it.

I have gotten almost to the point of thinking the only golf course I belong on is the one at Lagoon.

I got a lesson on Tuesday. The guys is good. In fifteen minutes he at least fixed my distance problem. It is as simple as not having my feet so far apart and not rolling or swaying my right knee to the right.

Still shot a 90 on Weds. but had 7 pars. Had 2 triples and 3 doubles.

With 70% weather tomorrow and our first year long best ball match, I plan on shooting in the low 80's. One of these times when I say that, I will actually be able to return and report I did.

                    • A group of guys from work have started a monthly tournament. I played bad in the first 2 and they upped my index (which is a 22.9) to 28. They have no idea what they are doing really and have just randomly issued index's based on scorecards. Anyways, this last Saturday I shot an 89 (with 44 putts, nine 3 putts ) and ended with a net 61. Too bad no one else on my team could play worh a crap as we finished 2nd. Boo.

I am so inconsistant. My index is continuing to climb from the low of 19.1 last year. On the bright side, I do have 2 of my last 10 rounds have been in the 80's. I just wish I could get rid of any rounds in the 100's.

Make sure your stance isn't too wide and your right knee doesn't buckle to the right.

RIP Seve. You were Phil Mickelson before Phil was Phil Mickelson.

Seve was amazing. I remember watching the 1995 Ryder Cup and he was playing Lehman. Lehman was his usual steady self and Seve couldn't hit a fairway. He was all over the course but he kept getting it up and down from everywhere. Lehman won but I feel fairly confident in saying 71 would give his left nut to have a short game like that.
