I shot an 88 on Saturday. In my last 14 rounds I have 2 100+ and 4 in the 80's. I am feeling much more confident as a golfer.
This was probably the 2nd easiest feeling round I have played. I was spraying my drives, but I can only think of 3 bad swings the entire round. (All 3 of those were with the sun at my back and the ball sitting in my shadow. For some reason I can't hit the ball when it is setup like that. All 3 shots were the same way.)
Good stuff. My handicap right now is 18.7. I am hoping to start shooting 50% of my rounds in the 80's. Right now I am pretty consistant 90-94.

However, Weds I threw down a 82. Lowest score since last Sept. One par 5 was shortened to 350 yards and a temp green because they were ariating, but I had a 6 on that hole so I feel the 82 was legit. I had a triple and two doubles so I actually think I will be able to break 80 again in my liftime.

I picked up a Titleist 910 D3 driver off Craigslist today. The guy I bought it from bought it in February but needed cash so he is selling his stuff. I have been looking at the D2 but for the price I couldn't pass it up. It is a 8.5° with the Aldila RIP shaft. I'm going to take it to the driving range tomorrow to try to dial it in. If I end up not liking it, I can sell it for a profit.
He also has a set of Titleist Z.B forged irons for sale cheap. I am tempted, but I think those are too much club for me. For the price he is selling, it may be hard to pass up. I could sell them on Ebay and make some money.Last edited by Drunk Tank; 05-29-2011, 04:17 PM."I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's a$$, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it". - Tommy Callahan III

I've been talked into playing a stroke play tourney this Saturday. I don't have a current GHIN, so they're going to throw me into a flight. I've only been out once this year, as a result, I don't even have a few cards by which they can create an index.
At one time I had an ok game, but not anymore; I need to cram. It's not that I want to win, but I don't want to embarrass myself either.
Questions:
What's the best way to cram for Saturday? Range every day? Hit the putting green every day? Or practice rounds? I can probably get in two before then. Also do I keep my cards and try to get them to factor an index at this point, or just go with the flight? There are two flights (0-10 and 11-20).

Thats great 71 congrats. I played with a kid a few weeks ago out at Talons Cove that was trying to qualify for the State Am. I was randomly paired with him and his grandfather. This kid was young couldn't have been much older than 18. He was pretty solid but I will say I did beat him on the front 9. His game was much prettier than mine but I was happier with my results. I shot a 37 he shot a 38. On the back he came out red hot while I struggled to keep my back 9 score under 50, he was 2 under.Originally posted by byu71 View PostMy second to the oldest boy qualified for the Utah State Amateur again this year. I was invited to play in a 4 man scramble this weekend. We had a lack-luster performance (5 under), but I stuck a 5 iron to 5"8" on the par 3 second hole (178 yards) which was good enough to win the closest to the pin contest. Looking at my ball mark and where the ball came to rest, It appears that the ball rolled within inches of being my first hole in one.
