I guess they'd clash with your pink balls.

I gave up the pink balls when I switched from the senior flex. Now I am a yellow man, playing Srixons.

Those yellow balls are hot. I wish they offered the yellow on the trispeeds.

Edit: They sell yellow sticks too so you know.

Are you going to play Bandon Dunes while you are there? I've only heard about it, but everyone says it is one of the best courses around. It just sounds cold and windy to me, as that is all I have ever experienced in Bandon.

Yeah, I have a group of friends that go every year for a trip. The courses are amazing, and the wind can be insane. Following the weather I think we missed the great weather by a week as the last few days have been 75 and sunny, back to low-60s and overcast next week.

            • I shot a 100 today. I thought I was done with scores like this. Oh well. 2 steps back. I played like crap, one bad shot lead to another. :frustrated:

Well, I shot a 99 on Friday. It was a new course to me and it had poured the night before. The dampness of hte course sucked. I'd hit a good drive and the ball would just stick in the fairway. No roll at all. I've never hit my 4 iron and 3 wood so much on par 4s.

                • Shot an 80 on Friday and 84 on Saturday. That's progress. Actually Friday was a pretty good round. An 80 with a triple and two doubles.

I think sometime this year I will be able to report a few in the 70's. Not so sure I want my handi to drop now. The member guest is the first of August. It will be easier going in at a 13 than the 7 I was last year.

                    • I think I hate golf. Went golfing on the 4th of July and shot a 37 on the back nine. Only had one bad hole, where I got a double-bogey. I was stoked. Went out yesterday with my son and it was as if I had never played the game before. Couldn't keep a drive in the fairway. Couldn't make an approach shot. Couldn't chip. Couldn't putt. I stopped keeping score about 5 holes in. Maybe I should take up bowling.

                      • On the way back from a family reunion near Duck Creek, my brother and I stopped to play Cedar Ridge. ERCoug was kind enough to ditch his family and play the front nine with us.

I started out putting lights out, but was having to scramble to save par. Knocked down three 8-10 footers to save par within the first four holes. Then my putting went to hell, and I three putted three straight holes. Finished the front with a 43, but caught fire on the back nine.

On the back, I was one under through 4, and then I missed a 3 footer for par on 14. I recovered by hittting a 417 yard drive on the 600 yard par 5. That's right, 417. I can neither confirm nor deny whether the wind was strongly at my back or whether the tee was severely elevated to a downward sloping fairway. Sadly, I three putted for par. I hit OB on 18, resulting in a bogey, and ruining my shot at an even back 9. But I can't complain about an 81 (par 73) when my front was as sporadic as it was.

For not golfing in over a year, ER put up a very respectable score. His swing is smooth like buttah, unlike my hitchy baseball swing. He was burning the edges with some putts, and with a couple breaks would probably have beaten me on the front.

                        • Played early this morning and wasn't able to take advantage of soft greens and perfect weather. I started off terrible (play started on 10 today), barely reaching the ladies tees with my first drive then hitting my 2nd shot 100 yards straight up in the air, after a couple more crappy shots I got lucky and drained a 20ft putt from the fringe. I had another double on a par 3 I caught my 6 iron pure airmailed the green into a buried downhill lie above a super fast sloping green. I keep feeling like 71 that I'm "almost there" with my swing, especially with my driver which I'm still putting too many in the first cut or edge of the rough 220-240. I hit a few good drives and keep thinking, perhaps somewhat delusional, I'm super close to putting together a good round.

EDIT: I just counted and I had 5 bogey tap-ins of 3-6". Ugh one of these days, one of these days...

                            • Art,

SOunds like my round the other day. I shot a 41 on the front 9 at Sleepy Ridge in Orem.

I hit all 9 greens in regulation, I hit 6 of 7 fairways (2 par 3s), and I was inside of 20 feet for birdie on 5 of the 9 holes. I finished with 1 birdie, 2 pars and 6 bogeys (all of them 3 putts). On the back 9, I started out well again and was making putts, even through 5 holes. So I am +5 through 14 holes thinking I have a real shot to shoot in the 70s. I decide that would be to much fun so I finish double, par, double, triple, for an 83 (par 71).

                              UGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

                              • I am looking into playing a considerable more golf in the very near future (most likely once a week). I do not have my own set of clubs. I play with my dad's set (he is 6'6"-6'7") that is 20-25 years old. I do have a knock-off driver that is 5 years old (it's a piece of junk that I tend to hit well). I have been on the lookout for a set of good clubs on the cheap and Surfah introduced me to golfio.com. With that being said, how much difference would a new set of clubs make in a newbs game? Could I get a good set up for around $750-$500? Is the fall a better time to buy clubs?

                                TIA.

EDIT: Would this be a good buy?
