I did enjoy playing again with something on the line and I'm looking forward to tomorrow.
Member guests are fun. Do you guys do a calcutta. Do you have a derby?

As I mentioned, I shot 95 today, but I think I will shoot in the 70's tomorrow.

They had the calcutta last night. I didn't go so I'm a little anxious to see what our team went for. My partner has a about a million side bets going and I've told him not to tell me for how much or where we stand. I'll play better not knowing.

Are you being motivationally optimistic, or do you really think this? I ask because when Phil Mickelson was being interviewed on TV yesterday, he said that he shot lousy the day before, but he kind of knew what he was doing wrong. He mentioned his suspicion to his swing coach, who watched him and confirmed. Then yesterday, he adjusted and shot better.

I actually, honestly believe I will slow this stinkin swing down and get back to shooting in the 70's. I hit too may good shots each round to think I can't.

That being said, I shot 88 today. :swear:

          • I shot 78 today in the second day of the tournament. We finished tied for third and I only skulled one chip completely over the green so it was good.

That's great. YOu should have done very well on those side bets and the calcutta.

              • I played Gladstan yesterday and birdied one of the hardest holes in the state, the new par 5 on the back. The rest of the round was a struggle. Shot an 89.

                • I tried this club out on the driving range:

It helped but not in the way it was supposed to.

                  • I had a pretty awful experience yesterday, played Tokatee for the first time in about 5 years. I hate playing at places where they have tee times every 5 minutes, I get frustrated with the people in front and the people behind, feeling trapped and rushed at the same time.

On hole 7 a longer par 4 we had a group on the green, a group in the fairway, us on the tee and 2 more groups behind us waiting for the tee. I just feel myself getting tense when this happens and usually play even crappier than normal golf.

                    • I played in 4 man scramble yesterday at Cedar Hills. We had a legit shot to shoot to win it but ended up in 4th.

Had a 20 foot eagle putt that I lipped out, then another guy hit dead center of the cup and it hit the back of the cup bounced up and landed right next to the hole shadowing the hole.

We had about 5 other putts lip out as well today. Ended up shooting a 61, a 58 won it. Really tough pins today, as tough as I have ever seen them up there.

                      • Played 18 yesterday after work. It was pretty busy for a hot summer afternoon and play was pretty slow. We didnt finish until a bit past 8pm. We were putting on 18 @ dusk. I played well for me (22 handicap) scoring a 88 (44/44). I had 5 straight pars on holes 8-12 and had no doubles on the back going into 17-18. Then my nerves got the best of me and I tried to force shots knowing if I went par/par I would break my 9 hole record and I finished double double. I dont want to sound like "that guy" but that was probabbly the most dissapointing finish to a good round I have had, especially on 18 where my average is under par. But I am happy to have another round in the 80's since my last few have been high 90's.

                        • Anyone here play some of the recent Ping irons? G5, G10, G15? The raptures are still pricey, so I'm not really interested in them. I'm looking at a few used sets on ebay.

Also, how critical do people think club fitting is with irons? I did some online fitting and it suggested in needed a +.75 lie angle, but I have no idea what that really would mean.

I have a Ping g5 driver, so no real help but I love it! I know a few guys who play Ping G10's and they love them. Pings online fitting is pretty accurate. +.75 lie angle isn't much, but it will still help over a standard lie club. Tick was fitted to a +3 degree lie angle and you could really see the difference in his ball flight since at a standard lie, he was hitting the toe of the club first and pulling the ball left. It straightened him right out. He has yet to buy +3 clubs yet though since he just bought his Victory Reds a while back.

I agree with drunk tank. I had my irons fitted and while it didn't cure all operator error, it helped a lot.
