September is my favorite month for golf. The days are mild and calm, the courses are in great shape and the crowds have left. I'm not sure if they are doing other things or just burn out but with summer being so short I'm always a little surprised how empty the course is this time of year.

Vegas golf is suffering. Two courses have been bought in the last 6 months and are likely going to be converted to residential. Silverstone up north (DH's home course) is embroiled in a legal battle with the homeowners that bought there on the basis that they'd be living in a golf course community, but they will likely lose. Now Badlands has been sold and will more than likely be re-zoned for high-end residential.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I tried to go out to Sillverstone and see if I could slip under a fence and walk a round. That place is boarded up tight! FYI, Paiute is my home course.Originally posted by falafel View PostVegas golf is suffering. Two courses have been bought in the last 6 months and are likely going to be converted to residential. It was before! I timed it about 6 months ago. Takes 3 minutes longer to get to Silverstone than to Paiute from mi casa.Originally posted by falafel View PostIt is now, if it wasn't before.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

Badlands has been suffering big time. It has nice holes but difficult and unfair. I can't imagine the homeowners in Queensridge would be happy about losing their golf course views.Originally posted by falafel View PostVegas golf is suffering. I played Paiute a month ago. It was in great condition. Not use to playing in luscious green rough. Nice not to have water rights/conditions.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostIt was before! Solheim Cup Controversy
During one of the matches of the Solheim Cup (American women's golf vs. Euro women), US rookie Allison Lee and her partner had apparently halved the hole against two Euro players, Suzann Peterson and Charley Hull. Allison's ball was 16 inches from the hole, and she thought the Euros had conceded the putt. She thought this because it was a frickin' 16" putt, Peterson was off the green and looking toward the next hole, and Charley Hull started walking to the next hole in the universal signal of concession. Allison Lee scooped up the ball whereupon Suzann Peterson claimed she didn't concede the putt, and made the course referee penalize Allison and award the hole, and eventually the match to the Europeans.
The American's were outraged and infuriated and stormed back to capture the Solheim Cup in the largest come from behind victory in Cup history. Charley Hull, the European player who benefitted from partner Suzann Peterson's refusal to concede broke down in tears at the criticism they received for their bush league play. US Captain Juli Inkster called it BS, and said "you just don't do that to one of your peers."
And of course, floods of tears from Lee and Hull:

What Jason Day has done this summer is outstanding. Who would have thought 6 weeks ago that he would man-handle the field and grab world #1 from either McIlroy or Speith. He's playing as good right now as Tiger ever did at his best. At least that's my opinion.Last edited by clackamascoug; 09-21-2015, 10:39 AM.

Grass looks pretty good. I am so sure the matches would have been so great.Originally posted by Y84it View Post
Played on the best conditioned course I personally have ever played yesterday. Wow! I didn't want to walk on the fairways or create a divot. Absolutely beautiful. Didn't hurt that I played under my handicap by 7 strokes with a 83. Red Rock Country Club/Mountain Course
