  • I golfed Birch Creek in Logan (Smithfield) on Thurs with my bro. My driver was money. My irons were money. My putting was money. Through 8 holes. On the 18th (we played the back 9 first) the green is really elevated, with a major false front. I hit a perfect third shot about 4 feet from the pin, but spun it backwards off the green, and all the way back down the hill. It ended up about 4 feet in front of where I hit it from. I hit it again, and shanked it right and ended up double bogeying the par 5 (when I could have had a birdie if I'd just used the deep of the green). For the next three holes I was awful, and couldn't pull it together. Then we got joined up with another single player, and for the last 6 holes, I was money again, playing them 1 over par, total.

Amazing how quickly the swing can come and go.

The thing that pissed me off the most was that we had a team in front of us hacking it all over the course. They were very slow and we waited about 15 minutes per shot. It was awful. We watched them play all day and I know for a fact that got par on two of the par 5s nad at least 7 holes total. Well they turn in their score card at -14 and finish 3rd. I hate people like that, keep an honest freaking score in a tournament.

We played a 4 man up at Soldier Hollow last year. A team posted a 49. Everybody started moaning and whistling, pissed off that they were lieing. Two teams later turned their card in with a 46. When that was announced, people started getting up and leaving the awards ceremony.

I have seen teams legitimately shoot 52 and 53. I have never seen a team shoot sub 50. Miraculously two teams on the same day did this. Yeah, right. Assholes.

      • Sorry I am late to report.

I am not going to post our scores out of my bromance for DT, but lets just say that I beat him again.

        This time by 9 strokes.

We are golfing again this Saturday and will return and report.

See that is unreal. We played a few years ago at Talons Cove and posted a legit -19. We rolled in some huge putts, drove 2 par 4s, all 4 of us were completely on our game. We actually though it was in the bag easy, until a team posts -23. That is birdieing every hole and eagling every par 5. Not a chance in hell.

          • The_Tick and I hit the links at 615am to beat the heat Saturday (104*) I played much better and beat The_Tick by 3 strokes. He was in his own head due to him realizing he had lost his PW the week before, and he fell apart the last 3 holes. I had some killer drives, but as always, my short game negated them. I had a 10 on a par 5 and a 6 on a par three that really killed my score. If not for thise 2 holes, I would have posted my best round in 2 years.

            • Last Wednesday we played in a pro-am. The format was fun. 1 pro and four amateurs. On each hole 4 players played a scramble and 1 guy had to play his own ball. You added the two scores together. 3 guys had 4 holes they had to play alone and two had 3 holes.

Our average handicap was 8.5 and we had a good pro. The team that won net had an average handicap of 18.8.

Here is the head turner. We took second on gross score, 74. The guys that had 4 amateurs that average 18.8 handicaps shot 73 gross. Now some guy can be an 18 and have the game of his life and shoot 76. However do you think 4 of them can have the rounds of their lives. If two guys were 3's then the other two had to be 33's. You think a 33 could par one of his holes let alone 2 or 3.

Why do people stack the deck or in my mind cheat. The winner gets maybe $200 a piece. If I am going to cheat, it will be for a heck of a lot more than $200.

I figure if a guy is going to cheat me on the golf course he would cheat me in business also. What really bothers me are the little things like when a guy will put his mark as far under the ball, almost moving it, as he can and then when he replaces his ball he puts it about an inch in front of his ball. I just want to ask him if that inch is worth losing his integrity.

                • I am off four a 3 day trip that will include at least 4 rounds, likely 5 at Bandon Dunes. I have been waiting for this all summer for two reasons A) it means I get to golf 3 of the top courses in America and 2) it means summer is half over and I can see the end of camp season on the horizon.

I will post some pictures, but I have to take them first.

                  • Has anyone played Toana Vista out in Wendover? I am playing that this afternoon. Also I played Thanksgiving Pointe yesterday in rain and high winds. Sucked ass.

                    • So I had my first golfing expedition in 4 or 5 years today. I finished par-bogey-birdie on the last 3 holes. Hit two shots pin high within 15 feet and dropped one of them. Sure it was only Cascade, but after such a long layoff it was nice to have a decent finish.

                      • I shot an 87 at TPC Canyons today. I was striking the ball well, and driving it in the fairway, but my chipping and putting struggled. I was breaking in my new wedge, which was part of the battle. I started to get the feel of it about halfway through the round, and finished strong to stay under 90. Not my best round ever, but on a tough course, i'll take it. Considering I shot a 94 on a much easier course on Wednesday, I'll take it.

FTR, TPC Canyons is a beautiful course. One of my faves in LV.

                        • My game has gotten very eratic. Yesterday I shot a 36-45 for a 81. Today it was a 44-36. My back is giving me problems. Should probably lay off a week or two, but I can't. Match play competition next week.

                          • Bandon Dunes golf resort lives up to the hype. What a great trip, played the 3 courses at Bandon Dunes (Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes and Bandon Trails) as well as Bandon Crossings on the other side of town. The first 2 days, Crossings and Bandon Dunes, the wind was out of control. 35-50 mph just always blowing, somehow it always seemed to change direction so that it was always pushing a way you didn't want. Pacific Dunes is the highest rated of the 3 courses and the round I shot the best, came within 5 inches of my first hole in one. Trails was an interesting course, and the hills never seemed to end. We didn't get to play Old MacDonald the new course that opens at the end of July, next year.
                            Crossings

Luckily I dug deep and hit my best ball of the trip, maybe my life when this picture was hit. Caught the wind and the down hill and went about 315, even my caddie was impressed. Perhaps I should just have a photographer snapping away and my scores would drop.

I'm jealous. I bet that was a good time.

                              • Shot a 100 today at Wasatch Lake Course.

I shanked 5 puts today <3' from the cup. I easily could have shot mid 90's. Will play again on Thursday.
