That's the part that stands out to me. My reaction is definitely "who cares". But then I think "Why the eff did they care about that?"

Seriously?! Can you even imagine what sort of crazy ideas the sisters would come up with if there was even a shred of evidence that their little biannual get together was on par with a gathering of the holy priesthood?! It would take a lot of love courts to set that record straight.

It is evidently very important to the brethren that the women know their place.

        • This article is so bad that I thought it could pass as an onion article.there's probably no greater evidence of inquality in the church then articles like written by the women of mormon women stand.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

                My take from this article:

Because men who could have overruled her chose to agree with her, there is no inequality between her and the deciding authority. I'll make sure to test the limits of that argument next time I'm in court. I may need to pack a toothbrush, though.

                  • When someone has to vigorously argue that there is no gender inequality, that's a good sign that there is.

A good litmus test for gender inequality is the gender of who comes calling when you start complaining about gender inequality.

Really? I feel like we would find this stuff ridiculous whether they were men or women.

I was referring to more of the formal response i.e. Discipline and the Kate Kelly process.

Hmm. Maybe I'm not paying close enough attention, but I feel like there are a bunch of men and women in both camps.

So how many of these are true and how many are an indicator of gender equality?

I'm thinking the following are false:

3 - There are different questions asked to men in the TR interview - specifically if they attend their priesthood meetings.
4 - Women make some different covenants. In fact the minor difference of the person they covenant to obey makes this argument kind of ridiculous
6 - Men have different commandments in that they must attend Priesthood meetings. In fact, it's in the temple recommend questions as noted in #3 above. If you want to take it even more orthodox, men have the commandment to home teach and provide for their families.....but I think that's getting a bit too petty.
10 - What an odd and false statement. It's like asking someone to bear their testimony as a way to strengthen their testimony. This one would have been better if the author had advocated that women record their voices into a tape recorded as they constantly say "I am equal to men" and they could play it over and over.

As for indicators of gender equality I'm thinking only the following are good indicators: #1, 7, 8 (however this one is really ridiculous), and maybe 9 (but they'll spend it pumping out spirit babies )

It's really sad that the church quasi-endorses this group as they are nothing but self-affirming the belief in a benevolent patriarchy.....whcih they are confusing with equaliy. I'd post something to retort this stuff on their FB page but I'm sure it would be deleted as any and all such comments on the above graphic were deleted.
