Agreed. They ask the dudes to do way more shit and it bothers me. I want to be an equal damn it!

cougjunkie, you also could argue that it is a problem that has been created by a long history of women being treated unequal in society and that the church has recognized it and is making steps to correct the problem. You can also argue the problem is overstated. Those are both arguments that I don't think are correct, but that you can at least argue with a straight face.

Womens session IS a part of general conference! Zero men line up outside to attend, disaffected members come back in droves

Great, another general conference session I have to feel guilty about not watching.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Is it really necessary to edit prayers? Is the cult of infallibility really that nervous?

By Oct 10, Carlson’s prayer on the official website of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had been edited to remove the reference to the "fourth" session. The reason, LDS Church spokesman Dale Jones said at the time, was that the women’s meetings "are not usually referred to as a session of General Conference."

This case is a good illustration of how the church is made up of a lot of people with very different opinions, outlooks, and beliefs. We sometimes think that everything is tightly coordinated and orchestrated from the top down, but that isn't the case.

Agreed. But don't you think the top wants it to be tightly orchestrated?

It is also a good illustration of how the church does not bow to public pressure, legal threats, or media scrutiny. We make changes under the direction of revelation.

Ha. I know some women who were really upset when the church caved to the agitators and let women pray in GC. Boggles the mind.
