The LDS church has received a lot of pushback for their support of Prop 8. But at least we know this means they were on the right track, according to Kate Kelly.

Kate Kelly continues her transformation to parody today on FB (not a friend of hers, but a FB friend commented on her page; just had to throw that out there to keep my cred):

I was so, so deeply disappointed yesterday that our 'Meet the Ex-Mormons' panel was in WAY, WAY too tiny of a room at Sunstone (while other concurrent sessions with far less attendees were in larger rooms). I'm just super sad about the way logistics panned out.
Her calling Sunstone out publicly of course ruffled the feathers of some of the organizers, who said that she was lucky to get the room given that her group applied way past the deadline to participate. And for the life of her, she just..cannot..back..down.

The esquire tag, the gofundme campaign for a laptop, now this. She lacks all self-awareness.

Is KK still a thing? I notice that people here stopped even mentioning john dehlin ever since he "leaked" that Richard G Scott in NYC scoop.

It would be cool if it was The Rock discussing Mormonism instead of Rock Waterman.

Time to ask the question: Has KK made a positive or negative impact on the issue of gender equality in the church? At this point, I would have to vote more damage than good.

I'm glad to hear that Dehlin found a medium in which to share his own story. I bet that was a relief since he probably hasn't interviewed himself in at least the past 4 months.

Unfortunately she is either a net negative or at least trending that way. She has been a train wreck for the past year.

why doesn't anyone close to her tell her to knock it off? should be the job of her priesthood holding husband, but he's obviously too much of a low t little beta to keep her in line.

Im sure many close to her have told her to dial it back, especially when she was flirting with excommunication. There is a healthy dose of narcissism involved for folks that establish a pulpit from which to speak. Why would she back down now? She isn't a member of the church anymore. She has abandoned a traditional career path in her field of study. She begged for money from strangers over the Internet. This is her gig now. She has nothing to lose by pressing forward.

The downward spiral has been fascinating to watch.

My perception is that she has lost view of why she got into her position of "influence" in the first place. It's one thing to have a well thought out and organized movement to ask why women don't pray in general conference. It is quite another to drop F-bombs in facebook threads on people that criticize you for asking your followers, or those in your community for money. This seems to have become all about her and her celebrity etc. to the point where she almost seems out of touch 1) with what is actually going on with the church and 2) what is actually going on with her movement.

I've used this analogy before, but she has truly become the protester in House of Cards that Frank scolds:

"Nobody can hear you. Nobody cares about you. Nothing will come of this."

The irony of all of this (in watching some clips of what Pell posted) is that it seems that these people have essentially all accomplished what they disliked about the church in the first place...an inclusive echo chamber, or at least so it seems.

Like many people who taste celebrity, she had a real opportunity to make a difference, and she let her ego get in the way of her movement. Now she can be numbered among the extremist antis and for the most part, dismissed when brought up.
"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I read that KK FB feed last night. DnF is right in that she is caught in a large echo chamber, but unfortunately for her the population in that echo chamber has diminished greatly. All these prominent exmos seem to follow the same path, which leads to them actually full on believing the caricature of the church that they initially created. It seems the only vocal exmo I know that hasn't ended up there is SU. I sometimes wish he were more prominent.
