I learned the biggest difference between Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte is their significant other or lack thereof.

We had great inspiring meeting today as well. My nefew reported back after his mission to Stockholm, Sweden. What a tremendous young man! He's a giant among men, and I want to be a better person because of my association with him. The theme of the meeting seemed to be developing a personal ministry. Our High Councilor went into The Good Samaritan parable. It's one of my favorite stories from the Bible.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostWe sang Have I Done Any Good?, A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief, and Because I have Been Given Much in Sacrament Meeting. I spent the entire singing time and most of the meeting thinking about opportunities to lift my fellow man that I often let pass by and resolving to be better. I left the meeting very inspired.

Alcohol is not addictive but is against the WoW because you do stupid things when you are drunk. The only reason coffee is prohibited is caffeine and you can drink tea as long as there is no caffeine in it. Conversation with two old dudes:
Me "Just moved here from the DC Area"
Old Guy 1: "DC eh? Does Harry Reid Even Go to Church?"
Old Guy 2: "Well with how he went after Mitt.."
Me: "I've got some friends in his ward and I believe he taught Gospel Doctrine at one point" (my wife reminded me later that was Lebowski's hero Senator Hatch and not Harry Reid...oh well).
"Old Guy 2: "Huh....surprising...""They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

That was my wife's ward growing up. Orin has GD instructor for a decade or more. I thought he did a good job, but especially appreciated he rarely wore white shirts.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostConversation with two old dudes:

Well known for their dances...though that building is probably pretty old now...who knows if it still holds up for that kind of thing.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostCorrect"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Harry would be useful as a go between for BYU and the LGBTQ community in regard to the BIG12Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostConversation with two old dudes:

God does care about winning football games!
Or...at least the Holy Ghost does!
A young man - who was just baptized a couple of months ago and is a new deacon - spoke in Sacrament Meeting about the Holy Ghost. In his game Saturday the Holy Ghost helped him fight through 3 blockers and jump on the football when the other teams QB fumbled it. "The Holy Ghost kept the other team from scoring." (Direct quote.)
Our Stake President was on the stand for the meeting, and took a couple of minutes at the end of the meeting. He thanked this YM for reminding us that we can use the Holy Ghost in all aspects of our life.
Confirmation from the Stake President means it MUST be true!

Also, Mitt (or Huntsman) would have been in our ward if he hadn't crapped the bed.
