The newly minted Deacons Quorum President gave a 12 minute talk today. It was amazing. He concluded his talk with how much he loves his mother, and how much she does for him. Hardly a dry eye in the house.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

We packed them in today. 360 in our little Ward. I'm always impressed how many LDS go to Church when vacationing at the beach.

            I learned in church today

Today in primary, we did a rendition of the game Hedbanz to teach about our bodies being temples. A young volunteer would stand in front of their peers with a picture on their foreheads while the kids would provide clues to help them guess what the picture of.

            First picture: fruit and vegetables

            Second picture: mouth
First clue given by one of the girls in my class: boys can't wait to use this as soon as they get married.

            Lots of grown up snickering.

We had two "Pathway" missionaries come and talk to us in the third hour about the Pathway program. It seems like a pretty sweet deal for some people to get a four year degree through Ricks online at a cost of $68 per credit hour.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Agreed. It's been used quite a bit in our stake. It works out really well in that you can get your degree fairly cheap. It's also nice that it goes through BYU-I so it doesn't dilute the flagship university of BYU.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

It looks like a good deal but you'd miss out on the pleasure of living in Rexburg. I believe it's a good program for the church and members throughout the world, if you want to change the world educate them.

Speaking of Rexburg, I saw this on FB earlier today and it made me laugh.

So, my first experience with airbnb is a negative one. We need a place to stay in the Rexburg area for august 18-22 2017. this girl had rooms on ABB for $60 a night. for those dates, it's a screaming deal.

i book two rooms. then she writes me and says that the price will change "depending upon market value." because of the eclipse, "market value" for those dates is well over $1500 a night. nope.

                                So disappointed. it's disheartening.
