i was sitting in the foyer yesterday and one of the new members of the bishopric came up to me and shook my hand. He then asked how "everything was going." I told him everything was great. He then gave me a finger snap-finger point combo and as he walked away, said "well deserved."

Coincidentally, in an email conversation this weekend with a couple of friends who are far more highly placed in Church leadership than I, they revealed their favored gesture was the wink and finger point combo, coupled with the declaration, "Don't go changin'". I'll pass this along as a worthy alternative.

A fellow assigned to speak on the 5th Article of Faith swerved into a scripted condemnation of the state of our nation and called it an "Obama-nation" (making a play on words of "Abomination.")

I certainly wouldn't want to hear an entire talk built on this stuff. Should I say something to him?

Might be funny while shooting the breeze with some friends of like mind, but definitely not in church.

The fact that it was scripted is what makes it so egregious. Shows premeditation. He cant claim that the spirit prompted him while he was standing at the pulpit.
