Shocking!Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

A close cousin to that is that I have found the ones who seem to be pounding their fist on the table telling how many righteous things they are doing and how others should fall into line, are covering up for some major flaw.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI learned that the people who complain the most about something are most likely to be the ones that refuse a formal invitation to try and fix the thing they are complaining about.

Pays to attend Sunday School apparently. We had Ward Conference today and according to my wife, the sisters were being "strongly encouraged" to attend. (She didn't.) (Nor did I, but I was at least in the building.) Early reviews are that the class was taught by a member of the stake presidency and was on one of CS's favorite gospel topics: modesty. Even though LDS leaders already tend to focus their modesty discussions on the women, today's discussion spent a significant amount of time telling the sisters to recommit themselves to wearing their garments since there have been a bunch of divorces within the stake recently.I told him he was a goddamn Nazi Stormtrooper.

So at t-ball practice last night, my wife got a some more clarification about last Sunday's meeting. Amazingly enough, it managed to be worse than first indicated. I was under the impression that it was a lesson directed towards the men AND women with the above comment made as a side note. Turns out that the meeting actually took place during the third hour. For weeks leading up to it, they passed around sign up sheets to the men so that every women AND young women (12 and up) could attend. The meeting was taught by the stake president and the stake Relief Society president. They've been doing this at every ward conference in the stake.Originally posted by Dwight Schr-ute View PostPays to attend Sunday School apparently. The Relief Society president in one of the wards felt the message was important enough to email a summary to all of the sisters. Here's that email:
Today our lesson was taught by our Stake Relief Society President, Sister Taylor and President Parker.
Sister Taylor showed us a picture of a woman in Turkey beside a stone wall. She was dressed in a long black dress, holding a handbag and had a scarf around her head. She was covered from head to toe. We recognized right away that her faith was probably Muslim.
Is how we dress representing that we are covenant, temple endowed members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints?
Our style is not what we are discussing. Some people dress with more flair than others. This is a representation of personality. We were taught today that we should be dressed in such a way that we are not showing parts of our body to the world.
If you are wearing leggings, your dress is too short. If you are wearing a shirt with leggings, you need to put a skirt on!
We should not be buying or wearing mini skirts for ourselves or for our daughters.
We show too much cleavage. Boys and men are passing the sacrament and should not be distracted by cleavage and leg as they try to provide us with the bread and water to renew our baptismal covenants.
We should not be posting photos of ourselves in less clothing than our garments cover. There are children young men and young women and other women’s husbands looking at these posts!
Our body is a temple and as members of the Church and as women who have been baptized and endowed we should remember always what we represent with our clothing.
We should be working out to keep our temple healthy, not to compare abs or quads or body parts.
President Parker talked about boys being tempted by the provocative clothing that teachers and women wear to Church. We do not want our Young Women to be any part of tempting a Young Man to do something immoral from the visuals they receive from the clothing or lack of clothing.
We honor women in the Church. We need to be the example to the world about what to wear.
Young Men are going to be tempted to look at pornography if they have been faced with immodest dress in their lives. Boys who look at pornography 3x are addicted to it. This is a very difficult addiction to overcome. Let’s teach our boys to honor women, not to check out the hot mothers at Church.
Women at the gym should not be showing their bodies off as they work out. This is causing people to leave their families and marriages.
And I thought this guy's rants on gay marriage were epic.
I told him he was a goddamn Nazi Stormtrooper.

I was in St. George last weekend. My son and I went shopping at Wal Mart and we spotted the polygamist ladies easily. I assure you neither one of us had a sexually oriented thought come into our minds. We also saw one young man, probably 14 with them. We both commented on how he had a blank look in his eyes. My guess is he had no sexual thoughts being with them either. I don't know how his eyes looked when he saw the many ladies in the store with parts of their non Temple clothing covered skin showing. A large majority of them had bodies that also caused us to have non-sexual thoughts. Perhaps the Relief Society should be promoting obesity?
Why wouldn't she have just sent out an e-mail talking about how the RFLDS are still doing some things right?
I am sure these are good well intentioned people and we have to accept it that these are those who will rise to leadership in the church. Guys like RCViking don't stand a chance of becoming my regional rep.

I thought starting the lesson with a woman in a burka was a nice touch. Maybe we should stage a "wear your bed spread to stake conference movement.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI was in St. George last weekend. The end result left the t-balls mom's (all generally traditionally modest women) feeling ashamed of their bodies and immodest despite actually being so. I doubt that was the goal of the exercise, but I guess that's what happens when you get all Law of Moses-y on the sisters.Last edited by Dwight Schr-ute; 03-21-2014, 10:44 AM.I told him he was a goddamn Nazi Stormtrooper.

I didn't realize I was addicted to porn in grade school when I stumbled upon my neighbor's Playboy collection and checked it out a few times.Young Men are going to be tempted to look at pornography if they have been faced with immodest dress in their lives. He didn't throw in women should not wear their bag cross shoulder because it accentuates the breasts?Originally posted by Dwight Schr-ute View PostI thought starting the lesson with a woman in a burka was a nice touch. Maybe we should stage a "wear your bed spread to stake conference movement.

Hell, given this context, the Victoria Secret catalogs of my youth were what did me in. A High Council Speaker last Sunday talked about how our prayers shouldn't become "roped" (instead of rote).
He said it 4 or 5 times, very clearly: "I worry sometimes that our prayers are becoming ROPED."
Gotta admit, when something like that happens it makes me wonder if it's mainly people with below average IQ and literacy who are still going to church. SJBH.

LOL! This makes me think that when we hear about these little details over the pulpit we are really hearing about that particular dude's fetish. Bag strap accross the chest, yoga pants, tight turtlenecks, whatever the specificity, that dude is really only publicly advertising what gets him going. This is probably why they bring in the sisters sometimes to get specific, which only advertises the same for what turns their husbands' head.Originally posted by Bruiserstone View PostHe didn't throw in women should not wear their bag cross shoulder because it accentuates the breasts?

That reminds me of the someone at the MTC telling the sisters that they shouldn't wear a scarf around their waist because it would draw attention to their hips/buttocks. They should wear them around their neck to draw attention to thier faces.Originally posted by wally View PostLOL!
