  • Outer Range starring Josh Brolin is pretty entertaining. Think Yellowstone but with a Sci-Fi element. Also stars the crazy brother from Ozark who continues essentially the same role here. Patrick from Schitt's Creek is also a big character. Eight episodes total. First 4 are strong and hooked me in nicely. Then 5 and 6 didn't hold that standard in my humble opinion. Episode 7 continued that trend for the first half hour but brought me back in its second half. Episode 8 was excellent and I'm looking forward to a Season 2.

Normally I don't care for Sci-fi, but I'm a big fan of both Josh Brolin and Will Patton, and I've enjoyed the series thus far. I also love the guy from Schitt's Creek. Every time he starts singing a song I chuckle. I'm hooked.

Anyone else seen the new episodes? I watched the first two of Season 3 (they released the first three episodes all at once).

All I have to say is: they are outdoing themselves with the factor. Whoever comes up with this stuff is depraved. But I was entertained, so what does that say about me?

          • My wife stopped watching this show when in the previous season a woman accidentally squished a man's head like a grape between her "thighs" in the throws of passion...She would not be a fan of the opening death in season 3. Yeah over the top with the shock factor. I am still watching though.

No kidding. I watched the first 2 episodes tonight. I had kind of forgotten how gratuitous it is until I watched the season 2 recap at the beginning. I mean, yikes. Still going to watch it. But there’s no way Mrs. NWC would last an episode.

              • I let my 12- and 14-year-old daughters stay up late tonight watching Top Gun with me. I haven't told them yet, but I'm thinking to take them (and their brother) to Maverick tomorrow for discount Tuesday at the theater. Their mother has expressed disinterest in viewing the sequel.

So good. Here's a fun Twitter thread from an aerospace prof at UTSA.

Is your wife not of the right generation to have seen the original, or is she just legally insane???

                        The latter.

                        • Anyone watching The Rings of Power yet? It has promise and I generally enjoyed the episodes thus far (more so the second episode). There are some acting performances I hope improve, a couple come across as Shakespearean actors on stage. A bit too much over acting.

I don't think the wokeness that right wing culture warriors are screaming ruins it is actually apparent from what I've seen. Who cares what race the characters are, as long as they are compelling, well written, and not overtly wrapped in modern politics. Not seeing any of it thus far though.

I thought it moved kind of slowly, but still plan on watching. I cannot think of any show that I have quit watching solely based on a political objection.

Wokeness. Love that word-- allows racism to take the form of victimhood. e.g. 'I can't believe they are subjecting us to this wokeness.'
