Funny you should mention that. I pulled up Netflix for the first time in months about an hour ago, and was scrolling through to see the offerings. I either came across that or something similar, and made a mental note to come back to it when I have more time. I watched a shorter series on the same subject on another streaming service earlier this summer--either Britbox or Acorn.Originally posted by Pelado View PostFor the Anglophiles among us (Bo, anyone else?), I started a series of (48!) lectures centered around English history between the Tudors and the Stuarts.

By the way, the Mrs and I are fans of Lucy Worsley and we were at Hampton Court Palace one day and Lucy is there with a camera crew wrapping up filming in the little herb garden they have. I called out, “I love your shows!” and she called back, “You have good taste, sir!”

Mr. & Mrs. Smith remake with Donald Glover and a very likeable co-star whose name I don't know. It's kind of a new case every week episodic show and I'm on episode 4. Each has been excellent. You could call it a dramedy, but it's much darker than the old Brangelina movie with a more serious vibe. So far I definitely recommend. Feels similar to Severance.

I watched the first two episodes a couple of nights ago and really enjoyed. I told my wife to catch up so we could watch together starting with episode 3. So while I watched the game late last night, she watched it with our teenage daughters.
I hadn't anticipated that the daughters would be watching with her, so I didn't think to warn her about a couple more risqué scenes in the second episode. My youngest complained that her mom had fast-forwarded through a lot of that episode."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

The criticisms I’ve read on socials are pretty vapid. I watched on Sepinwall’s strong recommendation and he wasn’t wrong. It’s been out for like 3 days so I can’t imagine where such strong negative opinions are coming from but I strongly disagree with anyone giving it such low scores. I am confident you will like it. Well at least the first few episodes because that’s all I can speak to. Professional critics seem to like it a lot but for some reason Amazon isn’t really hyping it like they should imo.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

The first episode kinda dragged, but I slogged through to the end and I may be ready to watch episode 2. Jury's still out. Amazon's new commercials as well as the inability to bump a show up to 1.5 speed is weighing against it.“Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.” Aroldis Chapman

I watched the first episode and it was bonkers. A lot of fun and pretty dark. Not really my pace of show, but I like Donald Glover and it's interesting enough I'll probably finish it.Originally posted by SteelBlue View PostMr. & Mrs. Smith remake with Donald Glover and a very likeable co-star whose name I don't know. So I finished Mr. & Mrs Smith. I think it was a solid first season. Certainly above average for what's streaming out there. As the season progresses the focus is more on the dysfunctional marriage than the missions, culminating in a scene that emulates the BrAngelina film more than any other episode. Overall it's a very dark comedy that I think most would find interesting. If you're one who desires constant action in your spy show, you're likely to feel two of the final three episodes drag. If you like character development these episodes contain really well written spousal arguments. If you've been through a divorce or marriage therapy it might be a little triggering. I suspect whoever wrote these scenes was very familiar with the process.

I have one episode left. I am down for anything Donald Glover does so I am sure I am biased. I think it is great! SB is right that its more about the dynamics of a marriage/partnership between two strangers in an absurd backdrop of espionage. Its dark and not for everyone. I think its similar to HBO's Barry in some ways. Its the second best new series I have seen in the last six months behind the new Fargo (very different than this show) and I am always watching and looking for new series to stream.Dyslexics are teople poo...
