I enjoyed Man of Steel last weekend. Definitely better than the 1980s take on Superman II. Amy Adams isn't fantastic as Lois Lane but she's better than the car wreck Margot Kidder was. Not remotely as good as Nolan's Batman series, but worth watching.

Man of Steel Really liked it. Almost loved it. (Sorry Katy, I couldn't resist).
Suspending disbelief is becoming easier in my 40's I guess. It was also the first movie I've watched in D-Box, which I enjoyed but probably not enough to continue paying extra."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault
"Once I seen the trades go down and the other guys signed elsewhere," he said, "I knew it was my time now." - Derrick Favors

I really thought it was horrible.I'll save JL the trouble...Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostDammit, fusnik and I agree on something. :swear:"Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

Saw This is the End. Pretty bad for an IMDB 8.1. In fact, I might say it's the worst IMDB 8.0+ I've seen, but I think the ratings usually spike at first and come down over time. I guess I don't go to the movies that much to notice.
But there were some very funny scenes. (I think I'm OK without spoiler tags) Over the top crude, but the "I'm going to come all over this house" scene was funny. And the who gets to rape Emma Watson scene was truly hilarious. I'm still laughing as I remember that. Wife was totally pissed I dragged her to this one. And she disagrees any of it was funny. Even the rape Emma Watson scene? How is that not funny? We have some real heated debates on this topic.Last edited by jay santos; 06-17-2013, 11:46 AM.

This side of anything from Wes Anderson, more people overrate that movie than any other movie. I don't want to say "it's the most overrated movie" because there are plenty of people that share our opinion.Originally posted by fusnik View PostI just watched the Big Lebowski.

I really thought it was horrible.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Just by asking this question I'm probably not the targeted audience (also I have not seen this movie), but when the hell is rape ever a funny thing?Originally posted by jay santos View PostSaw This is the End. at a minimum, when it's the Apocolypse and Jonah Hill, Seth Rogan, et al are discussing which of them is most likely to rape Emma Watson. I can't even type that without laughing.Originally posted by SandYFan View PostJust by asking this question I'm probably not the targeted audience (also I have not seen this movie), but when the hell is rape ever a funny thing?

All of you people who are all like "TOO MANY EXPLOSIONS" can go to hell. I love explosions. Thank god for Zack Snyder who finally had the balls to bring a real Superman fight into the 21st century.
That is what it's(a superman fight) supposed to look like, with all the unfathomable speed, power, and collateral destruction that should happen when two super-powered titans clash in a modern day city.
As for the movie... it was ok, I guess.

Took my boys to see it today. I thought it was good -- met but didn't exceed my expectations.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostI enjoyed Man of Steel last weekend. The final showdown reminded me of this:

I watched it again the other day and loved it. But I can definitely see how it wouldn't appeal to everyone. IIRC, it didn't do that well at the box office.Originally posted by fusnik View PostI just watched the Big Lebowski.

I really thought it was horrible."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I believe I said the same thing when I saw this at Sundance. We even had the director there and I'm still not sure about everything that happened. That said, I found the movie extremely powerful and moving in its portrayal of the relationship of two damaged people. I need to see it again.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostUpstream Color
Serious level of WTF-ness to this one. Obvious comparison is Malick, with the detailed shots of nature and sparse and hushed dialogue. But I swear the narrative in this thing was even more abstract than even Malick at his most opaque. I intend to watch it a second time, though I'm not sure I'd understand it any better on a subsequent viewing.Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...
None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.
I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

This was the midnight movie at the Tower last weekend and it was great seeing it with a crowd. What an absolutely pitch-perfect movie. It improves and gets funnier every single time I see it.
