the last 8 seconds were up and the movie didn't end on the freeze frame shot of the main characters' last kiss where the camera moved through the train car showing everyone happy for that one final moment. That specific scene would have been a poignant end to the movie. Instead we had to suffer through the postscript, during which my belief was thoroughly "unsuspended". I walked out of theater thinking... "meh" instead of "that movie was great!" Sometimes, and specifically in this case, less is so much more.

    cheers.
    I had the same reaction.

      "King of California"

Very charming. Michael Douglas and Evan Rachel Wood are the leads, and they make a good dysfunctional father-daughter combo.

How do you know - not a fan of chick flicks, but man did I like this movie. Maybe because I was working all night and started it at 2:30, but I thought it was great considering the genre.

          "The Orphanage"

I usually don't care for thrillers, but this is good.

For our Tuesday Night at the Movies outing, we saw Win Win, a Thomas McCarthy (The Visitor, The Station Agent) movie starring Paul Giamatti about a struggling small-town lawyer with a declining practice who's trying to hold everything together. I expected the film to dissolve into cheap sentiment, but it didn't and the dialogue rings true throughout. Rotten Tomatoes shows a 95% critic approval rating. It's R-rated because some eff words, but it didn't bother Mrs. PAC a bit, and she enjoyed it a lot, as did I.

That shit was awful. Like a home video but worse because it was full of national geographic rack.

I actually liked it. It's fascinating to me to see how other cultures raise their children. Seeing how the kids in Africa and Mongolia are often left to their own devices or a sibling no more than 2 years older is pretty wild IMO. I wonder if it would have been better received if you had kids.

This shows my utter lack of maturity, but the church scene was hilarious.

I watched Inception last night. Unfortunately, I dozed off right after he recruits the new architect and woke up during a noisy scene (my sleep was caused by exhaustion, and doesn't reflect on the movie).

It was a great flick, but I have to watch it again b/c I'm sure I missed something. I love movies like that.

Jackass 3-D (though not actually in 3-D).

I saw it coming, but I couldn't help but laugh at the midget bar fight scene. It really was sad though watching and seeing all these guys no longer in their 20s but looking much older than they really are thinking, "seriously, you're still doing this?" Then again, people (myself included) are still watching, so why not.

I put this one off because I didn't think I would like it, but I thought it was excellent.
