Thats another probolem. Mirren was too old. Given the time frame, she is about 15-20 years older than the character should be.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostSmoking those Israeli cigarettes for 40 years will do that to a person....
That said, I still enjoyed the film.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Watched The Hurt Locker last night and was unimpressed. Perhaps I just don't get what makes a movie good or bad, at least according to people who say what movies are good and bad."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

I didn't think it was that great either. Way over-hyped.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostWatched The Hurt Locker last night and was unimpressed. Watched the original A Man for All Seasons over the weekend - Schofield well deserved his Oscar for his protrayal of Thomas More. It has an over all outstanding cast:
Orsen Wells - Cardinal Wolsey
Robert Shaw - Henry VIII
Vanessa Redgrave - Anne Boylen (just a cameo - non speaking)
Leo McKern - Cromwell
John Hurt - Richard Rich
Susanna York - Marget More
I may be small, but I'm slow.

How the hell did The Kids Are Alright win Best Picture - Comedy or Musical? There was nothing funny about that movie at all. Who categorizes these films?
The movie itself was fine. I think Annette Benning has timeless beauty and there is something about Julianne Moore that I find kind of hot, but neither were attractive in this movie. Also, do all lesbians swear like sailors? And are GBLTQAXYZ obligated to give their children weird names like Laser?"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

IMO Contagion was a complete cluster*&$#. Confusing, disjointed, and I never felt any connection to any character whatsoever. Several plot tangents never did get resolved and even the final plot resolution was ham-handed and sloppy. To see critics proclaiming the movie as the best film of the year has me even more confused.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostWhat did you think of it? I'm thinking of going.
We saw "The Debt" Friday. Entertaining, well-acted, kind of like a Cold War thriller (which is kind of was). If you don't like moral ambiguity, you won't like this movie. I liked it.
I want to see "Moneyball."
We saw The Debt as well last weekend and liked it. I thought the character development in that movie was done very well."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault
