I may eventually, as I'm sure it's very well done. But one problem I'd have going in is that I've seen up close a person's descent in schizophrenia and watching a variation of that on film would be more than a little troubling.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostI'd go see it. It was very dark and violent, but it wasn't gratuitous, if that make sense.

Agreed. 2019 was a great year. Lots of very good films with well-crafted plots, characters, scripts, etc.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostJoker was the only nominee I didn't see, for the reason you and several others have mentioned. As for all the other nominees, I thought the year was remarkable for having so many movies being pretty equal in quality (albeit with a wide range of styles)--all very good movies with none being truly outstanding."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? I have Once Upon a Time in Hollywood going in the background on my screen at work. Forgot how enjoyable this movie was. I'll see if any of the suspense holds up- I distinctly remember teetering on my seat in the theater. Nobody does it like Tarantino."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

I think that I'll be seeing Sonic the Hedgehog this weekend with my son. The last movie that I saw in theaters was Detective PikachuOriginally posted by Commando View PostI saw Jojo Rabbit-- it was great, of course.
I also saw Sonic the Hedgehog.
You know, for fully expecting a middling-to-terrible kids' movie, I actually got a kick out of it and found myself laughing pretty hard at a couple of the Jim Carrey scenes. And they got the fantastic Ben Schwartz to voice Sonic. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

I bet I'd find Marriage Story (a movie that I refuse to watch) darker and more depressing than Joker.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI have a strong stomach, but joker was the darkest, most depressing movie I have ever seen.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

It's an important film. Beyond strictly mental illness themes, there's valuable social commentary on alienation and classism.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostI may eventually, as I'm sure it's very well done. Phoenix definitely deserved his award.

Yeah, I am guessing you would find Marriage Story pretty depressing and would hold off on watching it if I were you. Besides it has a very predictable plot...Originally posted by MartyFunkhouser View PostI bet I'd find Marriage Story (a movie that I refuse to watch) darker and more depressing than Joker.
Spoiler for movie plot:the guy gets majorly screwed in the divorce

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
