At the end of the day, however, I still think the story is too convoluted and tries too hard to be a mind-blowing experience. I would put it solidly in the bottom third of Nolan films. Here are the films that are better than Tenet, in no particular order:

    Batman Begins
    The Dark Knight
    Memento
    Interstellar
    The Prestige
    Inception
    Dunkirk

I haven't seen Following or Insomnia, but I can only assume they are worse than Tenet.
Agree that Pattinson was the best actor. But I didn't think Washington was bad. I liked him.

Here's my grouping. Much like Pixar movies, I cannot number them without getting mad at myself.

Top tier (I will watch at least part of these if they are showing, no matter how many times I've seen them):
    Memento
    Batman Begins
    Prestige
    The Dark Knight
    Inception
Tenet (I fully admit this may sink in the ratings, but for now I was sufficiently awed by it)
    Dunkirk

Bottom tier (doesn't take much persuasion to make me sit down and watch it, but I'll blame you afterwards):
Interstellar (still love it, but it drags along more than it should)
    The Dark Knight Rises
Insomnia (still a solid flick; you should watch it)

I haven't seen the Following either.

I gave up trying to understand half way through Tenet, and just sat back and enjoyed the action. I really liked Robert Pattinson's performance.

Is that all of the Nolan movies you have seen?

                  • My Thanksgiving week movies thus far:

West Side Story. Wow, that was awful.

Fiddler on the Roof. Really good. I am going to be doing the Tevye dance all weekend to bug my kids.

                    • Watch The Personal History of David Copperfield last night. It was excellent! Directed by Armando Iannucci (creator of Veep). I've never read the Dicken's novel, and supposedly the film takes some liberties with the basic story, but it has hilarious. Great cast. Tilda Swinton's character, in particular, is a highlight and Dev Patel is great in the lead role. Highly recommend. Rated PG - great for the whole family. Wouldn't mind seeing Iannucci do more Dickens' adaptations. It seems like a good fit.

                        • Last month Northwestcoug presented a trivia question concerning what three performers or performing groups had No. 1 and 2 hits simultaneously during thee 50s-70s. The Beatles and Elvis were obvious; the less obvious third answer was The Bee Gees. Whether you like the Bee Gees or not, I strongly recommend you watch The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, one of the better music documentaries I've seen. A lot of interesting background on how they started, evolved, reconciled familial differences, and wrote some great tunes. The segment on the meteoric rise and rapid fall of disco, the production of Saturday Night Fever, and the debacle at Comiskey Park was especially interesting. Near the end you see how many great songs they wrote for others. I wouldn't put them past Lennon/McCartney as songwriters, but they're close. We're going to have to watch Saturday Night Fever again.

Should have mentioned the documentary is on HBO Max...

Saturday Night Fever would have been a zero movie without the Bee Gees soundtrack. The Bee Gees were white hot at the end of the 70's.

This is on our queue to watch next. I remember reading somewhere that they were prodigious songwriters.

"Stay" through the closing credits. The music is good and some interesting factual tidbits pop up.
