Is it depressing or emotionally devastating. Because of the nature of my work I limit my intake of those types of films.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostWatched this over the weekend with my wife. Very well-crafted movie. I love how you get a certain perception early on and then the plot twists start dropping. Not at all what I was expecting in the beginning.
I am going to be checking out this writer/director's other movies. I like his style.

i was depressed by Shoplifters. it was minorly profound but nowhere near the impact of another Japanese film, “Departures.” i guess my expectations were incorrectly pegged.
The starring actress was superb. love the scene where she is being interrogated and she keeps rubbing her face and you dont actually see her cry, but every time she lifts her hand away you see a fresh tear. i never saw anyone cry/not cry like that before. also did you notice that as the film goes on, she gets prettier and prettier? as if her appearance is tied in with her maternal relationships.

I assume you are talking about Kirin Kiki? If so, yeah she is awesome. She has starred in a ton of Japanese films. Sadly, she passed away last October.Originally posted by Katy Lied View Posti was depressed by Shoplifters. it was minorly profound but nowhere near the impact of another Japanese film, “Departures.” i guess my expectations were incorrectly pegged.

Haven't seen that one yet, but have seen a few of his others. Not a big fan of After Life, but Still Walking and Our Little Sister are really good. Our Little Sister has almost no conflict -- just a few sisters welcoming a stepsister they've never met into their life. One of the most pleasant movies I've seen in a long time. Heard After the Storm is really good too.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostWatched this over the weekend with my wife. Very well-crafted movie. I am watching a lot of Japanese stuff lately. Trying to resurrect my language skills."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."
Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Rented Aquaman with the kids. Everything about it was horrible. Makes me feel like Shazam is going to suck, but I hope not.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Highwaymen - Watched it with MJ. Overall, the production, script and acting were top notch (which is saying something for Kevin Costner). Netflix is obviously upping their game. The story was good but the movie was maybe 20 minutes too long. I missed about 30 minutes in hte middle when I fell asleep but woke up soon enough to see the ending, including the lead up to the ending.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - Still not sure how I feel about this one. I saw it a while back (I don't think I typed my review) and it took me a good thirty minutes to figure out who Casey Affleck was as I couldn't pinpoint the actor. Weird since I"ve seen plenty of movies with him. But then I was pretty far into the movie nad hadn't really paid attention to the plot, which wasn't too much of an issue for this movie. I mean, Robert Ford kills Brad Pitt and that's kind of it except the end is intersting with the whole reenactment show and all. Kind of a ho-hum western. Didn'nt fall asleep, oddly enough.Last edited by Moliere; 04-14-2019, 05:24 PM."Discipleship is not a spectator sport.
