If it weren't for him, I would have really disliked this show. He provided some solid LOLs.

In all, the movie was somewhat entertaining but very forgettable.

    • I guess Marvel/Disney felt they absolutely had to introduce Ant Man. The movie will be profitable but it won't be a blockbuster. The character will be in upcoming movies, but I imagine this will be the one and only stand alone Ant Man movie.

Guardians was Marvel's best so far. I'm optimistic about the Dr. Strange movie next year.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

      • We watched It Follows tonight.

Awesome movie -- and it teaches a good lesson about the dangers of premarital sex.

        • Payback - Mel Gibson as a small-time crook back from the left-for-dead, taking on a syndicate to get back the $70k he feels it owes him. Fun, stylized revenge flick. Worth a stream (currently on Netflix).

Chappie - Slumdog Millionaire creates the world's first AI robot, which is raised by a pack of criminal morons in South Africa. Raises interesting questions and ignores all of them. Waste of time.

Kicking and Screaming - Over-educated roommates whine about being lost the year after graduating college (this is the Noah Baumbach film, superior to the Will Ferrell film of the same name, despite the presence of Robert Duvall in Ferrell's). Has a few good scenes, but isn't really worth the time.

          • Southpaw-- I like boxing movies so I gave this a spin. Not the typical Rocky blueprint, or even particularly uplifting. A redemption themed movie that is actually just pretty sad the whole way through.

Ant-Man- Paul Rudd didn't disappoint. I liked this movie, which was well cast, and would see it again.

                    • A most violent year - slow moving character study. Labeled as the next big gangster movie but not even close. Grade B-

Whiplash - to those who saw it what was the point? Especially the end. Grade C-

This is where I leave you - This one had its moments. Slice of life dramedy about a family whose father died and all the kids come back to the house for an extended family reunion. It had its moments. Worth the $1.60 Redbox Grade B

Get Hard - It had its moments and at times was really funny. I give it a Grade B- If you want really funny Will Ferrell go with "the other guys".

While we're young - Story about to 40+ year olds who couldnt/didn't have kids and how they start hanging out with a younger hipster couple. It was entertaining and accomplished what it set out to do. my only problem is that everyone was giving them shit for never having kids but the Naomi Watts character tried and had several miscarriages. If this were the case you would think her close friends would be more understanding. Other than that decent and worth the $1.60 redbox Grade B

No Way Jose - Another Indie Film about a 40 year old guy with arrested development. Somewhat entertaining and I think its free now on Amazon Prime If you have a couple hours to kill its not bad
                      Grade B-

Ted 2 - Loved the first one and this one was funny. It's not as good as the first one but it does have some really funny moments Grade B

Ant Man - I loved it. It was fun and entertaining like what you are supposed have when you go see a comic book movie. Grade A-

Laggies Free on Amazon Prime this is an indie film about a woman this time with arrested development. It was fun and entertaining. If you are looking for a decent movie to watch with the wife this would work. Grade B+

Mr Turner - very very very very very very very very slow biopic about the english painter Joseph Mallord William Turner. Its 2.5 hours but seemed like it was 6 hours long. Interesting life he had it just took to long to tell the story. Grade C-

They came together - Romantic Comedy with Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler. Free on Netflix. Don't watch a trailer or read anything about it before you see it. There were times it was hysterically funny. the language is for Mature audiences. Grade A-

Road Hard - Adam Carolla film about a comic who goes back on the road when production deals have dried up. If you listen to his daily podcast a lot of the jokes wont be new. They are still funny but you may have heard them before. Other than that it's entertaining and free right now on Amazon Prime. Grade B

I utterly loathed this film, and cannot recommend strongly enough against seeing it, even on Netflix.
                        Let's talk about the end of the "The Gambler" more specifically the basketball game;

Lamar is the star player for a college in LA and they are playing a college from "Michigan". They don't ever say UCLA and U of Michigan but its what they meant. Ok Lamar is being paid 200k to shave points (not win by more than 8). Here is where this movie drives me nuts.

Cut to a montage of Lamar missing a basket and his coach immediately yanking him. WtF LA coach? Your star player misses one shot and you yank him? Anyway the game goes back and forth with Lamar sitting a lot for bad play. IN the last 5 minutes he comes in and takes over the game and with 50 seconds left and up by 7 LA has the ball. Here's the puzzling part. Michigan doesn't foul. I screamed in the theatre out of habit. "FOUL HIM!!!" but alas it comes down to a last second shot by Lamar that he misses so LA only wins by 7.

Seriously Hollywood can you at least consult someone who knows a thing about basketball?

                        • Get on Up - The James Brown Story - Not your typical bio-pic, as it bounces around from various points in his life. It shows his upbringing and musical influences, which was interesting in the formation of how he carried himself later in life. The actor did a good job of capturing the character that James Brown was, and it is always interesting to me to get the back story on the Godfather of Soul.
"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

                          • "Far from the Madding Crowd:" You'll likely have to go to an art house to see it. Well-done version of the Thomas Hardy novel. Carey Mulligan is a winsome Bathsheba.

"Jurassic World:" A fun summer movie, pretty well done. I loved how the heroine's makeup stayed intact throughout, even after running for her life from dinosaurs (through a tropical jungle) for an entire day. Realism bonus: Her character wore heels the entire time. I love the movies.

"Mr. Holmes:" A bit slow in places but fun for Holmes and mystery fans. Ian McKellen is great. Laura Linney plays a matronly character (something I hadn't seen her do before) and shows her acting chops.

That was the best movie in your entire list, by a long shot. And IMDB agrees with me.
