DB, I am going to say this will all sincerity and affection: Stop reading Breaking Bad threads until you have watched the series. It kills me that you are spoiling the greatest TV series ever."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I think it was perfectly within character. He has always been bipolar with Jesse. Take, for instance, when Jesse wanted his cut of the money and to get out of the business. Walt goes off on him (which has always involved letting him know what a worthless pos he really is) tells him he gets nothing and sends him out of his life forever, (which is what he perceived Jess to be doing to him). Then as time passes he feels something toward him, knocks on the door and there's his whole cut in duffle bags. It's happened several times over the years. Walt loses it when he perceives disloyalty, which for him appears to be the ultimate sin. By betraying him to the DEA, Jessie crossed the red line of disloyalty and Walt is crossing it right back, in what he perceives as equal measure.Originally posted by bluegoose View PostSecond, why did Walt tell Jesse in the desert that he watched Jane die? It seemed out of character for Walt to do that when he did. Sure, he has now ordered the hit on Jesse at least twice now, but he has always shown compassion to Jesse, and I really think he considers him "like family". There has to be a better reason for him have done that when he did.Last edited by SteelBlue; 09-16-2013, 12:06 PM.

Seemed like obvious foreshadowing when they showed the pilot scene where Walt scolds Jesse for almost lighting up. However, him lighting up at the lab and killing everyone seems too obvious and not very multi-dimensional like everything else has been. I have no idea how it'll end and I love that.

Yes, I agree.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostDB, I am going to say this will all sincerity and affection: Stop reading Breaking Bad threads until you have watched the series. It kills me that you are spoiling the greatest TV series ever.
Breaking Bad is making a strong case as the best drama series of all time. Bryan Cranston has established himself as the greatest TV actor, at least in a drama series. It appears as if the writers/showrunner have had a clear idea where everything should go from start to finish, or if they didn't then they did an excellent job of making it up as they went along. Breaking Bad is having the strongest finish, by far, of any of the prestige tv series.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

The last "YEAH BITCH!" comes when Jesse is freed and standing over Todd who's dying from bullet wound from Walt.

Was he taking the battery out? I thought he broke the phone. At any rate, I perceived it as an effort to prevent the trace or continued triangulation of his location.Originally posted by jay santos View PostWhy did Walt take the battery out of the phone when he was done with the call?Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

Hmm. So he knew cops were listening. And he was giving the baby away. But he didn't want the phone triangulated so he could have time to get away? OK, got it. I thought he was offering his location as part of the baby transfer. So they would know where to look. But i guess that was not necessary.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostWas he taking the battery out? I thought he broke the phone. More importantly, cell phones can be triangulated with cell towers even when you're not using them. Removing the battery stops this. In other words, he knew they were tracing the call, but even if they pinpointed his location, when he removes the battery (or breaks the phone), now they can't continue to follow him.Originally posted by jay santos View PostHmm. I noticed it wasn't the real Holly. It was a stunt baby.Originally posted by Dwight Schr-ute View PostWalt makes this sigh at the 4:00 minute mark just after the "I'm sorry" that seems to be relief that she's playing along. Just noticed that.
Also, the fire station scene is wrenching. Seeing how scared Holly is and trying to hide. You don't teach a child that age to do that. You really have to make them scared. And that's real life sad, but great tv. This probably sounds pretty awful coming from a parent, but I commend Gillian for going that far.
Walt has two demons in his head, and one is evil and the other is pure evil. Telling Jesse about Jane was pure evil, giving up the money for Hank not so evil. Taking Holly pure evil, giving her back not so evil. Recusing Jesse not so evil. He's like a hummingbird with one wing longer than the other. He can't fly straight to save his life.
I'm predicting that he enlists Lydia to kill the skinheads, rescue Jesse, take back the money, set up Skyler for life, goes back to Hanks grave, or that little spot on the hill, has another coughing attack, and puts a bullet in his brain, or ingests the ricin if it's not been used yet, and watch the sun go down on his "empire." Fade to Black.

Even the stunt baby was impressive. How do you get a baby to act like that on cue?Originally posted by clackamascoug View PostI noticed it wasn't the real Holly.
