It resonated with me.

I was glad to see him finally admit what it was all about. His life had been filled with disappointment, rejection, and unfulfilled dreams. He went out on his terms, doing what made him feel best. Morality of his decisions aside, I can respect that.

No more thoughts on the 'I was alive' line? To me, it was the most poignant of the episode. He finally acknowledges why he did it all. It recalls the 'rear entry' scene from the first season. A life of quiet desperation is not worth living--Walt knows this intimately and he goes to his grave without regret, at least in this respect.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this wouldn't resonate with a bunch of Mormons.

I thought that conversation was fantastic. I do wonder if he'd have been satisfied with his life if he hadn't been working at the car wash. It's one thing to have a job as a teacher at a high school, but it's another to wash your student's cars. That was the most emasculating thing about his life, pre-drug lord, IMO.

But whatever was going on in his life before then, he liked being the one who knocks. He liked being involved in high-pressure situations and fighting for his life. It's relatable.

Season 3 is less than a year from most of season 5. Maybe I'm jaded, but if this shows us anything it's that nobody ever breaks good.

Yeah, sort of. People mentioned the exchange, but to me that single line captures it all. "Being alive" is what Walt discovered in the first season and what carried him through the next four. I love Thoreau. Maybe that's why I pulled for Walt.

Again, calling this a Gilligan project is like saying the most recent Superman movie was a Nolan joint. Plenty of people did say that, it just wasn't accurate and wasn't the right expectation. Producer means something to the direction of the project, but in most instances not a ton.

The IMDB link I posted says he's the "creator" of it. I thought that was different than producer?

Well maybe I'm off. I know he was involved as creator because the character comes from his universe and he helped come up with the idea for the show, but my understanding was that the head writer / runner of the show (what Gilligan was to BB) is going to be the guy who writes the Saul character for BB. I could be wrong, but from what I've read it doesn't seem like it will be his show the was BB was.

I don't know what major roles he will land, but I predict a few cameo appearances in film to deliver a variation of his catch phrase (or to have that line said directly to him). Speaking of which, did we ever figure out what the huge "bitch" was that he pimped before this season? I was totally expecting a "freedom, bitch!" as he drove through the gate the other night, and was somewhat disappointed when nary a bitch was offered.
