  • I have to wonder what is deal with all these mass birds and other animal deaths going on. Maybe it has something to do with the secret UFO battle we are fighting.

    • Faith is camping with her students, which means that Little Robin and I are living off of Papa John's Pizza (within walking distance from our pad) and fizzy beverages. At the table last night, after a large gulp of a cola product, I let fly a huge belch, to which Little Robin responded, "Better out than in!" A few seconds later he looks up to me and asks, "Dad, I get the 'out' part, but what the hell is 'in'?".

        • Today in Primary, my 3-yr-old, was asked by his new Sunbeam teacher what he was thankful for. His answer: "My penis"

I thought that was pretty damn funny.

When mine was about that age he nicknamed his 'crocodile,' then thought the better of it and upgraded to 'dinosaur.'

Excellent thinking. Hope this actually happened.

On another China front - do Chinese cities have areas called "America Town"?

                      • My wife asked me this morning if scientists ever figured out why all those birds died en masse. I had no answer and really don't care all that much (especially not enough to look it up myself) but if one of you has an answer it might give me something to talk about with my wife tonight. We've run out of topics. TIA

                          • Half of Steely Dan's music is out-of-this-world phenomenal, and the other half, well the other half is boring as hell, and I can't stand it. I'm not a fan of their oeuvre, but I do own some of their songs, and I love those songs as much as anything in my collection.

                            There, I said it.

I accept that you love them, and that you don't regret your ca. 1973 tattoo, but this is merely a subjective reaction to their work, and not an indictment of your tastes, for which, like mine, there's little, if any, accounting.

"Do It Again" is one for the ages. I played it on a road trip with students and they were dancing in the bus aisle. When I told them how old it was, they freaked; they assumed in was "don Mac's Hispanic music."
