It's MWC fans talking about their ideal TV setup. Strangely, after months of mocking BYU's deal, they end up describing something very similar to what BYU has in place.

        • What's going on in St. George this weekend? We rolled in at 2:00 a.m. and had to scramble to find a hotel room. Usually we have no trouble. The town is packed!

It is the opening of the Utah Shakespearian Festival. So St. George and Cedar City are both going to be packed.

              Not that, sickos.

                • Watched Dance Moms last night. Wow. Train wreck of a show. And I thought Toddlers and Tiaras was bad. Dance Moms interested me because my daughter does competition dance. But wow. .. our studio and teachers are nothing like Miss Abby.

I'm thinking with all these reality shows about kids activities and overbearing parents, I'd like to start one about sports parents. Maybe I could call it Daddy Ball.

Yes. The one where parents pay 16K per year in tuition to have her berate their children and them! I noticed no dads were in the show. Hmmm.

                      • After sitting on the waiting screen for a couple of minutes without being touched, the Tivo jumped back to live TV just in time to catch a discussion between Jay Leno and Roseanne (she's still around?) about the virtues of the macadamia.

Roseanne: If the world would start getting their protein from nuts instead of beef, there'd be no global warming and we'd have enough grain to feed every hungry person on earth.

She has a macadamia nut farm there. There's a reality show about it called Roseanne's Nuts or something like that. Just saw a blurb about this somewhere.

My great-grandmother had a macadamia nut tree orchard. As a kid one of my favorite memories is picking all the nuts that had fallen. We'd take buckets of macadamia nuts to my grandpa's house. He had this big circle driveway and we'd lay out our beach mats and spread the nuts out to let them dry in the sun. Then we'd crack them all and eat delicious raw macadamia nuts.

I read Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs, and Steel this Summer, and the macadamia nut is the only plant native to Australia that has ever been domesticated.
