After a few minutes a man appeared in my driveway pointing a flashlight at me and asking a little too bluntly for my taste "do you live here?" I replied with a simple "Why?" followed with "and who are you?" He told me he was "patrolling the neighborhood" and thought it looked suspicious that I was in a sideyard in the dark while the house lights were all off. I told him I thought it was suspicious that he thought the neighborhood needed patrolling and I invited him to step off of my driveway and down to the sidewalk if he'd like to talk further. As I approached him I saw he was all decked out in camo. Duck Dynasty type beard.

I laughed about him patrolling as our neighborhood is quite safe but full of boomers who are afraid of everything. We do not have, and have not needed a neighborhood watch. I don't even lock my doors at night, the neighborhood is that kind of safe. Rarely lock my car doors and in 10 years not one incident. I asked "which house do you live in?" and he was vague but stated again he was out protecting the neighborhood. Then he said "well, you look normal so I'll be on my way." I'm still laughing about this but was also thinking how dangerous it is. Just another example of someone living in a fabricated fear and taking way too much action.
Maybe the safety of your neighborhood just took a nose dive.

                      • Billy Joel's "Leave a Tender Moment Alone" might be as close to perfection as a pop song can be. The melody, the flow of the song, the rhyme scheme, the length. It's just a great song.

                        • I’m pretty cheap by nature. I drive a 16 year old car. I’ve lived in the same house for 23 years, I am currently wearing both pants and shoes that I bought at Costco.

over the years I’ve had some jobs where I traveled a decent amount, but, despite being a credit card guy, I’ve always had an aversion to annual fee cards so I’ve never cared to get lounge access.

A couple of years ago I got a job where I travel almost every week, and because I fly on American, I spend a lot of time at airports waiting for delayed flights. So about 9 months ago I got the Aadvantage Executive card to get Admirals Club access.

So far, the biggest impact of getting this card is that I am getting fat while sitting in crowded rooms eating poor quality food.

Typing this message while waiting for a two hour delayed flight in the Reagan National lounge (which at least is a lot nicer than the Charlotte lounge) and feeling bloated.

Funny. Earlier today, I was asking AI about the best ways to get Admiral's Club access.

                              You have my deepest sympathies.

I haven't flown American since the incident in DFW several years back. I think that was seven years ago for me.

                              • My company just sent one of those Phishing test emails that was "Someone sent you a Valentine's card", which, and maybe I am too sensitive, is kind of cruel I think. It's like my company is saying "Psyche!! No one really loves you! Haha, loser"
