that makes sense. but why do you need a voice function to check traffic on a gps?Originally posted by DU Ute View PostI use it a lot to check traffic even when I know where I'm going.
I get a kick out of checking traffic or listening for updates on the radio (I am guilty as much as the next person). Now that you know what the traffic is like, what changes? You still only have so many routes home and knowing that there is traffic won't make it go by any faster. After driving the same beat for years, you would think we would know the traffic patterns. They don't change that much.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Often. I use it mostly for Church. I have to make visits regularly and I don't know where 80% of the ward members live. My ward boundaries are probably the size of 3 or 4 of your stakes there in Utah County. I used it yesterday to help a guy I hometeach find a tow yard I had never heard of. His car got towed from the train station and I picked him up there on the way home from work to get his car. Monday Gidget had a doctor appointment in Richmond. We spent the afternoon shopping and hanging out. I used it to find Trader Joes and Nordstrom.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostHow often are you people using GPS? So for the 2 or 3 times a week you use it, why do you need voice commands?Originally posted by Surfah View PostOften. I use it mostly for Church. Yeah, google nav is the king. No doubt about it. But it was not as big a loss as I feared. For the overall user experience (battery life, responsiveness, user interface design, etc.), I have been more satisfied with my iPhone.Originally posted by Surfah View PostYou miss the GPS on your Android. Exactly. This morning when I was leaving for work, I was lucky and saw that the traffic on the freeway wasn't moving as fast (slow?) as normal. I started using surface streets, and luckily it was just time for the traffic on KSL. That told me there was a burning garbage truck on the 106th exit, so I planned where I could get to the freeway. If I had left just a couple of minutes later, I would have missed that information. With a GPS, I would have known that without needing to wait for a traffic report.Originally posted by camleish View PostaccidentsNot that, sickos.

yeah, getting off the I-15 and taking surface streets is usually a good cure for traffic in SLC and Utah County. I think there are more offramps and streets under construction than not.Originally posted by thesaint258 View PostExactly. Voice commands? I don't need it. That's not what makes Android's navigation superior to anything else out there on a non-Android smartphone. But I will say it is flawless. In fact, voice recognition on Android, whether it be texting, inputting an address or searching Google for something is pretty impressive.
iPhone does many things well and better than Android. Navigation just isn't one of them. That's all. Mind you I am typing this on my MacBook Pro."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I thought about it, but the lack of a big plume of smoke made me take an alternative route. When I got on at 106th just ahead of the backup, it looked like the fire was out and it was just smoldering. Apparently it was impressive, though. KSL had a guy text them saying that he used to drive garbage trucks and his truck was fully engulfed once making for an incredible sight.Originally posted by falafel View PostA burning garbage truck!
