You are correct in fact the other lineman they have over there with zero offers is just as good as Lindsay and would walk on at BYU.

I think the BYU actually has a really good shot with Hinds ... a really good shot. Also, Lindsay will be a Ute. They haven't been a package deal at any point. Troy has way too many options for that to have ever been a reality.

Well I hope so. It's rare that we land these kinds of kids though. At least on that side of the ball.

Lindsay's grades won't be good enough for BYU.

For the record, if he is cleared by the NCAA clearing house BYU will get him into school. That is the same as 90% of all D-1 schools out there. So saying he doesn't have the good enough grades for BYU is just pure stupidity. There are only a handful of D-1 schools out there that require more from their scholarship athletes than what the NCAA clearing house requires. Notre Dame, Stanford, Duke are a couple of those.

2. He's not a BYU kid (i.e., won't live the Honor Code, which you guys hate with a passion when it costs you a Brandon Davies but which you wave like a flag when you lose a recruit head-to-head to Utah).

3. We didn't want him anyway.

I suspect that at BYU it's like it is at most schools - the standards are more sliding-scale than either-or. If you're just that good on the field, they'll let you in regardless of your academic cred or the likelihood that you'll abide by the HC. If you're nothing spectacular, they're not going to bend over backwards to lower their standards for you.

Your suspicion would be correct. Lindsay is not worth the academic risk.
