I was thinking that these are the level of recruits that you swipe from Utah state, CSU, Nevada at the end of the cycle after they blow up or if you need to fill a slot."The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."
"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."

This is true. It took us a good couple of years before we started poaching the best recruits from Texas.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI dont mean this as a dis. It takes awhile to build the recruiting pipe but I think ute fans will start to see dividends this season and then much bigger payout by next season.

These guys don't exactly get my heart racing, but I'm a little more optimistic because the coaches are seeing them in person and making an evaluation with their own eyes.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostBoo! These are the types of kids I was worried that Whit would continue to go after. I am not impressed. Hopefully these kids prove me wrong.
And like DDD said, after a year of playing in the PAC-12 the "Utah awareness level" will only increase and make it easier to attract top talent."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

This isn't hard news, but current BYU commit Zach Lindsay (OL at Davis HS) is rumored to be "leaning 75/25 towards Utah".
This could be bigger than a simple in-state defection; many insiders expect Troy Hinds and Lindsay to be a package deal."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

Lindsay is only worth it to get Hinds.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostThis isn't hard news, but current BYU commit Zach Lindsay (OL at Davis HS) is rumored to be "leaning 75/25 towards Utah".

Would it matter to the BYU fans who say this every time Utah wins a head-to-head recruiting battle?Originally posted by Surfah View PostDid Utah up their standards now they're in the Pac-10?"I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

If BYU is off the list for Lindsay then so is Stanford, Cal, and Notre Dame (if they would even offer). Makes me question whether Lindsay and Hinds are a package deal (as rumored) if 4/6 schools that Hinds has narrowed his list to woudn't accept Lindsay due to grades (Stanford, Cal, Notre Dame, BYU). That would leave Nebraska and Utah for Lindsay/Hinds and Nebraska only has about 12 scholarships to offer this year and already has a verbal from a DE. In other words, Nebraska won't have room to offer Lindsay unless the bottom falls out with their OL recruiting. So if Lindsay/Hinds are really a package deal, then it would seem Utah has a good chance unless BYU makes an academic exception.Originally posted by Bjorn Turoque View PostLindsay's grades won't be good enough for BYU.“Not the victory but the action. LOL. This is so easy.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostWould it matter to the BYU fans who say this every time Utah wins a head-to-head recruiting battle?
Lindsay is big. He's not particularly talented. A scholarship for him is a waste if it doesn't net you Hinds. BYU likely isn't going to land Hinds, so I am actually kind of glad to hear Lindsay might decommit."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I think the BYU actually has a really good shot with Hinds ... a really good shot. Also, Lindsay will be a Ute. They haven't been a package deal at any point. Troy has way too many options for that to have ever been a reality.Originally posted by Surfah View PostLOL. This is so easy.

That was the rumor a few weeks ago. Jay Drew confirmed with his high school catch a few days ago that Lindsay was still 100% committed to BYU.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostThis isn't hard news, but current BYU commit Zach Lindsay (OL at Davis HS) is rumored to be "leaning 75/25 towards Utah".
