I actually think Ohio is the only team that stands a chance against Bama. But you are so easy to get a rise out of, put some challenge n it!Originally posted by dabrockster View PostAre you sure you wanna go that route again.. You really went out on a limb. Great swish for you.Originally posted by dabrockster View PostLooks like the PAC 12 has learned from the best.. considering their OCG was about the worst in all Div. 1 teams..
And Swish with predicting Ohio St. Would get in.. Good Day for the buckeyes and once again, the first to make it without being a conference champ.
HFN: I know you were sweating a bit as all that was needed was Washington or Clemson to lose.
The best part of this. Crybaby Harbaugh got left out and will or even go to the Rose bowl as Penn St. Will be headed there as Big Ten Champs.

There's no way they leave out the Big Ten. I think Washington would be out and OU would be in. But then, the argument between Ohio State and Penn State would have been a lot closer. Not sure OSU gets in without the Oklahoma win on its resume. That win gave the committee what it needed to put them in over their conference champion.

I agree with your observations. I also think the playoff committee has been inconsistent on their selection criteria. So a strong OOC schedule is important for 2014 Baylor but not so much for 2016 Washington. Playing and winning a conference championship game is necessary for 2014 TCU but not for 2016 Ohio St. Perhaps it does not matter given the strength of Alabama.Originally posted by wapiti View PostIs he saying that they should dumb down the non-conference schedule? Edit:
To focus on the thread subject, wonder what would have happened if Penn St. had not lost to Pitt. A Penn St. victory over Pitt is not as impressive as the Ohio St. win over OU. However, Penn St. has the head-to-head over Ohio St. and a Big Ten conference title. Does the committee select Ohio St. over Penn St? Ohio St. and Penn St. over Washington? That would have been interesting.Last edited by Paperback Writer; 12-05-2016, 05:26 PM.“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”

A one loss Penn State would have to be in over Ohio State. I don't care if everyone thinks Ohio State is the second best team. Results and championships have to count for something. I'm not crying about Penn State being left out, but a part of me hates the precedent the committee has set here. You can't use the argument that the Big Ten is the strongest conference to justify your rankings all year and then exclude the champion in favor of someone they beat because you think the team that lost is better. It's not as bad as it could be because of the Pitt loss but I still don't like it based on what I want the regular season to be. I know I'm in the minority.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostI agree with your observations. I also think the playoff committee has been inconsistent on their selection criteria. I was very surprised to see that quote coming from Urban as I have no doubt that he has publicly stated the win against Oklahoma was a key win to help build their case to have a shot in the CFP.
This was discussed as well on the local radio and they mentioned this quote in the context of Penn St. not getting in and a bit of a slight to Washington.
Truthfully, if he wants to complain about anything, he should speak to Gene Smith and the conference about the fact we had to play back to back games against Wisconsin and Penn St. Who both were coming off of their bye week.. Talk about a tough schedule and then you add those two teams having 2 weeks to prepare for Ohio St. on top of it.
