Looks like the PAC 12 has learned from the best.. considering their OCG was about the worst in all Div. 1 teams..


And Swish with predicting Ohio St. Would get in.. Good Day for the buckeyes and once again, the first to make it without being a conference champ.


HFN: I know you were sweating a bit as all that was needed was Washington or Clemson to lose.

The best part of this. Crybaby Harbaugh got left out and will or even go to the Rose bowl as Penn St. Will be headed there as Big Ten Champs.

So much for conferences championships and head-to-head results being important criteria. Might as well throw out that protocal and go with "invite what we think are the four best teams". Having stated that, I don't have a problem with Penn St. getting shafted.

About time the shoe was on the other foot. I hope this is just first of many.

Meyer said he plans on having a conversation with Athletic Director Gene Smith about out-of-conference scheduling now that it’s evident how important it is -- citing Oklahoma being left out thanks to their two non-conference losses.

Is he saying that they should dumb down the non-conference schedule? What if OSU and OU had both played a MAC team instead of each other? That would have left OU with a pretty darn good argument to get into the playoff as a one-loss conference champion and taken away a great win on OSU's resume.

There's no way they leave out the Big Ten. I think Washington would be out and OU would be in. But then, the argument between Ohio State and Penn State would have been a lot closer. Not sure OSU gets in without the Oklahoma win on its resume. That win gave the committee what it needed to put them in over their conference champion.

I agree with your observations. I also think the playoff committee has been inconsistent on their selection criteria. So a strong OOC schedule is important for 2014 Baylor but not so much for 2016 Washington. Playing and winning a conference championship game is necessary for 2014 TCU but not for 2016 Ohio St. Perhaps it does not matter given the strength of Alabama.

I was very surprised to see that quote coming from Urban as I have no doubt that he has publicly stated the win against Oklahoma was a key win to help build their case to have a shot in the CFP.

This was discussed as well on the local radio and they mentioned this quote in the context of Penn St. not getting in and a bit of a slight to Washington.

Truthfully, if he wants to complain about anything, he should speak to Gene Smith and the conference about the fact we had to play back to back games against Wisconsin and Penn St. Who both were coming off of their bye week.. Talk about a tough schedule and then you add those two teams having 2 weeks to prepare for Ohio St. on top of it.
