Only 22 teams have won a national title from 1970 to present; four of those teams play in the Big 10. Deduct independents Notre Dame and BYU and the Big 10 has 4 of the remaining 20. Seems like the Big 10 has its share of national champions for the power 5 conferences.

Edit: I was happy when Washington lost when Oregon was playing in CFP or BCS Champ games. You know, because they are Oregon's rival so as a fan I hope they lose because cheering for your conference rival is dumb.

Oregon and Washington are rivals?? That is new to me. I'll have to look that up..

Only if you give them credit for what Nebraska did back when, with all due respect, they were a few steps ahead of where they are now. If you're arguing that "The Official Big Ten Era has Begun," the "Nebraska used to be really good!" point is somewhat unsupportive.

I'm still trying to process how the guy who was celebrating the fact that his team wasn't even good enough to play in their CONFERENCE championship game is still in the NATIONAL championship playoffs...

...and yet is upset that some other conference is having a conference championship without 12 teams in their conference.

Apparently conference championships - and conference championship games - really are meaningless.

Meh.. Misery loves company.. Seeing how Oregon was so pathetic it could not make a bowl and taking pleasure in Washington losing is not my type MO..

Interesting that one one of the more grounded people I thought here takes joy in such petty things.

My comments were to look at the original post in a different perspective. The original post was to disparage the Big Ten for only winning 2.5 titles (Ohio St.-2; Michigan -.5) since 1970. While true, the Big 10 has expanded and if Nebraska's and Penn St.'s national titles are included, it paints a different picture. For many traditional powers, success is cyclical. Nebraska and Penn St. may never win another national title but I doubt it. I've seen others try to bury Oklahoma post Barry Switzer and now Texas post Mack Brown. Traditional powers or teams that have won multiple national championships in the modern era usually don't stay irrelevant for long. However, Nebraska seems to be making its case to be an exception.
