Stop it with the condescending sycophancy. Enough! The object of the game is to score the most points. BYU had plenty of notice that that was the gold standard. Until BYU can pull itself together to actually win a game against Utah, it gets no credit vis-a-vis Utah.Originally posted by hostile View PostLet's call each team co-champions of the Vegas Bowl. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Fitting that Lucy is wearing blue. Utah's defense is great, but it was frustrating to loseOriginally posted by Jarid in Cedar View Post
to such a piss poor offense. One less frosh mistake by Mangum...
Oh well. Enjoy the well earned victory. You don't have Bronco to kick around in this game anymore.

Bizarre set of events, especially given how dominating the Cougars played the rest of the game. What could the coaching staff have done to stop the bleeding and get to dominance sooner than they did? I mean, two P6s and another one returned to the one within a five minute span? When does that happen? Especially when the team dominates so thoroughly the rest of the game? I guess they could have taken back the squally fumble. Or was it just the fates? Maybe just punt the ball away on 2nd or 3rd down just to get out of that cycle?Originally posted by Shaka View PostYou're exactly right.
I just got back to my hotel and have had fun reading the CS commentary. You guys are funny.
BYU's flat start was a combo of a young QB, a Ute defense that came out fired up, and some very bad luck. Lumping all that completely on Bronco is just dumb. I was impressed how BYU didn't give up and made it a game.
And what's up with that uofutah punter? Was that just luck, or technique? If technique, then why isn't he getting rich selling instruction on the Internet? Very impressive. But of course, it looks like he's had a lot of in-game experience.
So, did anybody die as a result of the rivalry craziness spilling over into the stands? What about the predictions of BYU's dirty play (I see again that the uofutah will maintain its place on that list of heavily penalized teams for personal fouls)?Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

A Ute with a cowbell doesn't know how close he was to me killing him. He'd ring it before and during every BYU offensive play even when BYU was down 34-0. I was within about three plays of shoving it up his ass when I guess one of his fellow Utes told him to knock it off. How they would let something like that into the stadium is amazing to me.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostBizarre set of events, especially given how dominating the Cougars played the rest of the game. Other than that the Utes around me were pretty cool.

Someone on CB said an older cougar fan collapsed before the game requiring CPR. I don't know if he died or not and I think it was unrelated to the rivalry craziness spilling into the stands.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post

It spilled over into my extended family across the country. I had some family stuff to take care of so I had to start the game late. In the first quarter my Ute BIL was sending annoying gloating texts so I knew it wasn't going well. When I watched the game apart from being proud of the team for fighting back, I got some satisfaction knowing my BIL had to sweat the entire second half worrying that Utah would allow the biggest come back in bowl history.Originally posted by SCcoug View PostSomeone on CB said an older cougar fan collapsed before the game requiring CPR. It was a bad idea to let a trunky staff coach the game. Teren Houk said the fans were out of it and the coaches were out of it so the players had to fight back.Originally posted by YOhio View PostSeriously! I liked it when said that in spite of all the pre-game talk, it was Utah that was the dirtier team.Originally posted by Applejack View PostHis best comment was that tanner magnum (he of the 15 qbr, the three picks, and a fumble) might be considered for mvp.
