Why does Stuart Mandel think that I am stupid?

Why I'm not thrilled is that it took a shit ton of disrespect to the Utes and the season we had to make it happen. We are not the 6th best team in the Pac-12, but ended in the 6th place bowl. Unlike BYU fans, I haven't developed delusions of grandeur and the inability to ignore obvious signs about my teams place in the college football world. It sucks to see a clear sign of Utah's second class citizen in the P5 status.

I get that this is the crux of most Ute fans argument. However, AT THIS POINT in the season with the loss of Booker and the way they have played down the stretch, are we sure that is true.

1) Stanford
2) Oregon. I know what happened in the head to head, but that was then, this is now
3) USC
4,5,6,7) WSU/UCLA/AZ/Utah I don't see a lot of difference in this group. Personally, I think WSU is the best of the rest, but they looked bad in the Apple Cup. In addition, unlike people from metro SLC, most Wazzu fans are genuinely excited about this year, and more likely to travel to El Paso.

If we're being honest here, each of us when attending a rivalry game is a little concerned about giving or receiving a beating to death. There is just no way to control this sort of thing, but it is also what makes the tradition so exciting!

At this point, it's the most exciting matchup we could have conjured. It's already pretty fun seeing all the boo hooing from the Utah fanbase. If we lose-- hey -- par for the course in the BM era and a fitting capstone that would help some of us move on to the next era that much faster.

I'm assuming that he thinks I'm stupid because I'm not thrilled with the Vegas Bowl. Let me clarify, I love the opponent that Utah drew in the Vegas Bowl. I will enjoy beating our rival for the 5th time in a row. It is one of the biggest bowl draws and an actually interesting game, which is odd for a bowl.

That analysis only applies if you're stuck in the mindset of "Utah had a great first half." You were barely slighted (you should have gone tobowl slotted for the 5th PAC team instead of the 6th) and limped into the bowl season. You're not the same team that beat Michigan and Oregon. The Utes have a lot to be proud of this season, but should be ashamed of their idiotic response to the Vegas Bowl invite.
