they are called ticket brokers and there are plenty of them out there. you should get with whomever it is that pays for most of your season ticket charge and have him find a good broker that will sell his 75% and your 25% shares. it really isnt much work, actually. I sell the tickets for my FIL because i get to keep the spread above face.

LOL Why would I pay anyone to sell tickets? I get my share of the seats back if a good schedule comes along.

MLB. 2003. i think ive shared that story before. i was standing on a curb trying to hustle tickets next to Antoine Walker. This was when he had money, I think. neither one of us landed tickets.

depends on the game. scalpers will not dump tickets for "anything," never ever. they cant do that or else they would change how people buy tickets at venues. nobody would buy until the game had started. For example, at the SC game, we went inside about 2 minutes into the game (this was by choice, we had tickets already but were trying to make money selling extras) and when we went inside, some of the scalpers had upwards of 40 tickets in their hands despite lots of people needing them. Scalpers almost always work for local agencies and they are instructed to bring excess inventory back rather than flood the market. the agency takes a loss but it nets out to an overall gain when you factor in all the markups earlier in the evening.

It is true that prices get softer as game time approaches, but for a good game you arent getting in for $5.

How much and when I am willing to pay varies by venue. Generally, i dont care if I dont walk in until kickoff. Who cares if I miss that annoying pre-game school song announcer at BYU games? In some cases, pre game is important. When my bro and I went to Columbus for the SC Ohio State game, I really wanted to see Script Ohio, so we paid more to get in early. That is rare, though. Very seldom for me that it is important to get in early.

I dont like to pay face value if I dont have to. I like getting in under face and consider it a victory if I can do so. My general rule of thumb is that I get a random sample of going rate once I get to the venue and then you can pretty much almost cut that in half to gauge what you will pay at kickoff.

Of course, none of this applies if you spot a legit ticket holder. they are the nervous people that dont know what they are doing and just have an extra seat they want to sell. You can luck out at a tailgate and come across someone with an extra that will dump it and you are good to go.

Honestly, hustling is one of the most fun parts of game day for me. I love doing it. Lots of fun, i imagine it is like the thrill of gambling a bit. lots of adrenaline.

I concur - I love scalping and only buy tickets beforehand when my game-day companions don't trust my negotiating skillz. Three years ago I got 10 UCLA-Utah tickets for $0. God bless those die hard Bruins fans.

It is AWOL deserters like you who think they are sending some sort of message by abandoning the program when chips are down that are actually doing more harm than good to the team and the direction of byu football. This is not the time to constrain BYUs financial resources, when it needs more to remain competitive. This is not the time to stop attending games, when the school is trying to recruit players to come play in Provo. What does not renewing your tickets accomplish anyway? BYU71's octogenarian duncery gets a pass because he wears a diaper and doesnt recognize his own children much anymore, but failing to renew tickets because you don't like the schedule is something an idiot would do. The school is aware that the opponent isn't always great, the school is aware that fans want to be in the b12, the school is aware that the athletic department in general would be better if it were in a power conference. Standing Room only happens a lot when the stadium seats only around 47K. in fact, the announcer said it was the largest crowd ever for a Utah home game. 47K. And several thousand were USC fans, media, recruits, misc. So basically the most attended home game in Utah history brought out around 40K utah fans. ki-yi!

I have none of the swagger DDD has. But for those of you who are bandwagon fans like me, I have attended a couple of good MLB games that were supposedly sold out, thanks to helpful hotel concierges. They always know a Vinnie or someone else that is selling tickets.
