First Sunday in December: Highest bidder gets to name the subject of my fast.
So bronco really is on the hotseat.

This line is why Bronco stays:
Problem is, it doesn't look like the football program has a coach like Rose waiting in the wings.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Tom Holmoe is not doing his job if he doesn't already have a continuously updated list of potential head coach targets for replacing Mendenhall.

I don't doubt that he has a list. The question is how many of those on the list are a)willing to accept the position and b)better than Bronco's been.

It is one thing for Bronco to leave and then you have to start working your way down your list. It is something different completely to send him packing.

As the article's author noted, I don't see a Coach Rose in waiting. We don't have better options than Bronco for the time being.

Totally agree. As I have said before I also think Bronco has had an attitude change. I haven't heard all the religious inuendo's like in the past. I have seen him recruit more JC's and non-LDS people. I think he has gotten a message than winning is very important. While mouthing it in the past, not so sure he realized how important.

Unless he has enough saved up and wants to go surfing, I think FB has climbed his priority list. Of course all this won't mean a heck of a lot if there isn't a bit of an attitude shift in the higher up ranks and I mean beyond the admin.

Why do we have to have a coach Rose in waiting?

Coaches get fired sometimes. It sounds like these guys have completely lost the team. I'll be surprised if we're bowl eligible this year. We're playing really poorly right now.

It's not like Bronco was some hot commodity in the coaching world when we hired him. We're 20-14 the last 3 seasons. It's not good enough. I doubt they make a change, but I've kind of just come to expect this stuff after Bronco started off really well.

                • Why are Tom and the Boys getting a free pass? It may be time for a switch at AD, as well. This is becoming more and more common. Traditional football powerhouses like USC, Texas, Michigan, and BYU have either already done it or are considering it.
                  Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I have to say Rose was a risk coming in. He had experience coaching at Dixie and as an assistant to Cleveland. I dare say any coach we bring, if do in fact make a change, will be a risk.

I think risks are good if you do your homework. I trust Holmoe to do the job if needed.

My guess is because Tom and for that matter Bronco are doing their jobs per their job descriptions. Bronco's problem is that as the coach, he becomes the focal point of the fans wrath.

The unique situation that is BYU means it gets more difficult to criticize each step up the management level above Bronco.

I think you're right, until the football program starts losing money because of putting out a poor product and losing support it's not going to change. I would hate to try and field a team with the constraints they put on them.

Yea, it would be like in the old days of ward basketball and your Bishop said only active LDS young men could play on the team. You would get killed by the ward with non active boys and 2 non members on the team.

I read your first sentence and thought you meant Tom Monson and the Q12, my heart ached as I saw you letting go of the iron rod and getting lost in the fog like Niku.

Another indictment of Bronco as head coach.

I often feel Tom doesn't have the same powers or responsibilities as ADs at other universities.
