I am good with accepting both fanbases have assholes as that seems pretty intuitively obvious to me. I actually tire of this chatter so I can more or less stand with you even against gale like SE Idaho wind forces who so badly want some sort of moral highground. However, don't go all LA Ute! and one day proclaim that a primary reason you defected from the BYU to BSU was due to your taking offense at the assholes in BYU's fanbase. It is not wise to proclaim one prefers and has found a fanbase with more class if one is a fan of any of these local teams. It makes one look like class is not nearly as important to them as they might claim. In the intermountain west I think only Air Force and Westminster have classy fanbases! For the record I don't care much about class. Put it in your tagline.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I wish I had confidence Utah was going to make it to the fight Hunger bowl. I would want to go to that one.
I have been praying and asking God to let Utah win six games. Maybe we can have a special fast for our Brother Utes."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I thought it was policy. The BYUroc twitter account said before the game that anyone wearing opposing team gear and cheering for them would not be permitted in the student section. I guess in the end BYU didn't want to cause a stink but I agree it's dumb and an asshole-ish thing to do for any opposing fan to do. The bigger problem though is that I am sure more than one of those idiots were BYU students. I have never understood that mentality. Much like the Utah fans at BYU. There was a guy in my dorm room next to me from Michigan and he wore Michigan gear every day even to BYU games. It annoyed the hell out of me and I told him more than once that he goes to BYU. If you're a student at BYU support your school and your fellow classmates who represent BYU on the athletic field.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostWhoops.
Must have been those asshats in orange over at the very front of the student section. The ones that had Bronco upset. Never seen an opposing fan base do that before. Time for a rule change on seating.
How are ROC passes for football handled? Is it just a card or do you receive a GA ticket for the student section? Can students sell these tickets/passes?"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

It is a statement to the lack of testicular fortitude in the BYU student section. I can assure you nobody wore opposing colors in the Corps of Cadets! Well, 'cept when we played VMI or the Citadel.Originally posted by Surfah View PostI thought it was policy. I think there is a time and place to flat out ridicule, throw shit at or even tape their buns together. Something must be done, even if it leads to violence, to ensure folks are not comfortable doing that. The Security can use the excuse of preventing violence and not allowing it in the future.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I guess that was the point I was trying to make, both fans have their jerks and to call BSU fans "Low rent fans overall" isn't right. 99% of the people around us were very kind and we joked about stuff and had a good time. When we left they wished us a safe trip home and everything was good. The guy next to my wife was just recently divorced and spent most of the game telling her about it. I'm not sure if he was just looking for a friendly ear or trying to line up a date if something happened to me. At the BSU game last year I ask several BYU how they were treated and no one said they were treated bad or had any crap said to them. Fans like BYU71 sat by several years ago are the exception and not the rule like it sounded kccouger was trying to make.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI am good with accepting both fanbases have assholes as that seems pretty intuitively obvious to me.
They were all BYU students. My son told me Wednesday that we knew of some BYU kids who had camped out since Tuesday and were going to wear BSU gear on the front row of the student section.Originally posted by Surfah View PostThe bigger problem though is that I am sure more than one of those idiots were BYU students.

it shouldn't have to be policy. in a perfect world other students in the roc would make their life so difficult that they would leave.Originally posted by Surfah View PostI thought it was policy. Unfortunately BYU's policy is not to have an incident. I think somehow they must think the rowdy degenerate visiting fans might be "golden contacts".Originally posted by old_gregg View Postit shouldn't have to be policy. in a perfect world other students in the roc would make their life so difficult that they would leave.
When we travel or at home, no one thinks of our arrogant and obnoxious fans as "golden".

Not surprising. I don't understand that. Go to Boise State then.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostThey were all BYU students. That drive was spectacular. Bubble screen (why it was thrown to Kurt Henderson I don't get), followed by the shovel pass to Falslev. Then it was a play to Mahina over the middle. The drive was capped off by the read option keeper Hill took to the end zone. But before we got to the twenty we took two shots downfield. It was a great series. Best called series of the year by far. Boise was off balance and on their heels the entire drive. The OL opened a hole for Taysom that Victor Unga could have ran through.Originally posted by USUC View PostAnea used a screen effectively a couple of time this game. Sports loyalties are tough to make sense of sometimes. I worked with a BYU grad who grew up a couple of blocks away from the U of U campus She was a die hard Utah fan even while at BYU. She admitted that academics were the reason she went to BYU. I imagine some BYU students from Boise think the same way.Originally posted by Surfah View PostNot surprising. I don't understand that. I saw a dude on Saturday night wearing a Texas sweatshirt and a Boise State hat. We beat his teams this season by a cumulative score of 77-41. He didn't seem to notice my BYU hat as we passed by each other."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"
