Absent any kind of Crowtonesque national scandal, there is no way in Hades that BYU proceeds this way. It sucks to lose to Utah, but it's questionable (a) how significant it is in the big scheme of things; and (b) how much of Taysom's awfulness can be pinned on Bronco. I suspect any Fire-Bronco movement would have absolutely zero traction with anyone that matters.

Bronco's job is not in danger in any way, shape, or form. It's stupid to call for his head at this point.

Whether his job is actually is in danger is irrelevant as to whether it should be in danger. I think actually being able to beat your rival sometimes is very important to in state recruiting. It is going to be a full 7 years since the last BYU victory until BYU has the chance again. That is a lot of recruits whose only memories are utah owning byu.

      • It was a hell of a pitch by Lasike.

My observation is that when teams run the pitch to the corner near the goal line, they usually pitch it to a fast guy.

For me not a transformation, but an acceptance. I no longer languish over losses, even to Utah. I didn't enjoy the Ute fans hooting and hollering as I left the stadium, but again I can fix this by watching games on TV by myself.

Look, the people in charge are more than happy with the Meh, who cares if we win as long as the money rolls in.

When the attendance and interest starts to wane where it hits the pocket book, there will be a change. One thing I do have to hand to BYU is they have the "overpromising" what they can deliver down to a science. The typical BYU fan is more gullible than most. I will bet as a percentage more BYU fans get caught up in ponzy schemes (sp) and other scams than any other fan out there.

I don't think the answer would be to fire Bronco, as a matter of fact I think he is as good a coach as Kyle. Like I said though, Kyle is playing with modern golf equipment and they have told Bronco to play with equipment from the 80's.

Seriously, stop. If BYU were a crappy year-in, year-out, 1-11 or 2-10 team whose only shot at redemption was beating the in-state rival each year, you might be on to something. But we are not at that point. We are nowhere close to that point. We will not be anywhere near that point for the foreseeable future. We beat #15 Texas two weeks ago. Even though we are all frustrated that we seem to chronically underperform, we go to a bowl game virtually every year and generally win most of them now. We are a national program (a fair-to-middling one, but still) a major partner of ESPN and, most importantly, a clean program that does things right. Don't think that last point is significant? Read Benedict's book.

If Utah were our whole universe, you might be on to something. Fortunately, they are not.

Stop what? Saying it was a very important game and beating utah is important? No matter how much you pretend that beating an overrated team 2 weeks ago means beating an in state rival who we compete with the most on recruits isnt important, it doesnt change the fact that it is.

BYU should reconsider the policy of selling beer at the LES. The drunk fans I have seen are better behaved than this.

                  • Do I need to start a MTSU thread for this Fridays game? We have reached the "fire bronco" discussion phase which means that this thread has exhausted its utility.

That is the same crew that was reprimanded (lol) for the officiating job they did at the Wisconsin vs ASU game. I will bet the Wisconsin fans wish they had the opportunity the BYU fans had.

I am not going to blame the game on officiating, but I clearly saw one incident that was a clear indication of bias. Obvious holding going on. Referee did not pull his flag until the play was over and the pass was incomplete. He then pulled it and threw it. To the side judges credit he had thrown the flag earlier, but the referee was standing right there and did not pull his flag until the throw was incomplete.

PAC12 refs suck. Why even the big time schools submit to their having to have their refs at non-conference games I don't understand.

                          • I was at the game on Saturday and haven't yet been able to see highlights, etc. Anywhere I can find video highlights? I checked ESPN and BYUtv. ESPN has highlights but only a single play at a time. You would think BYUtv would have something up.

Yes, Bronco will still be employed. The last time I checked he was still on the the short list for replacing Mack Brown over at the Shaggy Bevo...

I didn't think there were any highlights, just lowlights.
