I don't think he's that interested either, but that shouldn't stop programs from trying to persuade him otherwise.Originally posted by UVACoug View PostI really don't think Bronco has any interest in either job, and I don't blame him. You think the politics are bad at BYU?
Maybe ufoutahfans are correct that his dorkyness trumps results on the field.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

If you don't count total national championships, total heismans, total dynasties over various decades, changing the face of college football by basically forcing the SEC to racially integrate vs being one of the last major schools to racially integrate, total players sent to the NFL, total alums that have played in superbowls or won superbowls, student athlete performance in the Olympics, and about 20 other things, then I agree that Texas is very close to SC in terms of history.Originally posted by Maximus View PostTexas is very close to the level in terms of history and has its pick of texas recruits. Id say the jobs arent that much different.
Perhaps the only bigger urban legend in sports besides NYC being a basketball Mecca is the Texas talent pool depth. Add up all the national titles and heismans won by all of the Texas schools and compare them to the traditnal powers from SEC, SC, B10. What a joke. the State of Texas is the biggest underachiever in all of college football. An entire state that has done so little with so much.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

bronco has more political savvy than people give him credit for. he wasn't dorky at osu or unm.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostI don't think he's that interested either, but that shouldn't stop programs from trying to persuade him otherwise.

I realize this is a joke, but I really wish it were true. Nothing would make me laugh more than to see Saban leave Alabama mid season to take the Texas job ... and Saban is one of the few that is classless enough to do it (and Texas would be arrogant enough to try to get him to).Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

Word.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI'm not, they are a good program. I don't care which of SU's theories you espouse, all of written history or snapshot in time, USC and Alabama are miles ahead of Texas. Texas is miles ahead of Oregon.
Texas has done a great job marketing this idea that Texas Longhorn football is the beginning and end of football. Sadly how things are advertised isn't always reality.
I suppose the greatest contribution Texas has made to winning titles is helping the Sooners win so may of them with lots of Texas kids on their rosters.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I definitely agree with that, but I think he despises that part of the job. I don't think they could pay him enough to deal with it on the level that would be required at Texas or USC.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postbronco has more political savvy than people give him credit for. he wasn't dorky at osu or unm.

I think Peterson will think it is a better job because Peterson is a California boy and I think most of his connections are built for west coast success.Originally posted by Maximus View Postwhy is usc a better job than texas again?Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Bronco is a great coach but I don't think he will be pursued for various reasons. The first being that his past few years were less than spectacular and the principle cause were poor decisions he made. I also think that the college football world believes he is a lifer at the BYU. Finally, I think he is rejuvenated and really optimistic and excited about his and BYU's future together.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostI don't think he's that interested either, but that shouldn't stop programs from trying to persuade him otherwise.
